Day 57: Israeli Aggression Continues
On the 57th day of the war on Gaza, the Israeli army continued its attacks on different areas of the Gaza Strip. This happened after the seven-day truce collapsed, resulting in the loss of many lives and injuries.
Today, Israel carried out new horrific attacks on Palestinian civilians by targeting residential areas in Gaza. At the same time, the Palestinian resistance fought back by launching missiles at Tel Aviv and other Israeli cities.
Israeli Army Commander Killed
In a surprising development, the Israeli army confirmed that Colonel Assaf Hamami, the commander of the Southern Brigade of the Gaza Division, was killed in an attack carried out by Hamas. His body is currently being held in Gaza.
Massacres and Resistance
The Israeli army launched intense attacks on several areas in Gaza, resulting in numerous casualties. The Ministry of Health in Gaza reported that over 100 Palestinians were killed in Jabalia camp alone. Among the victims was the president of the Islamic University of Gaza, Sufyan Tayeh, and his family.
According to the Ministry of Health, the total number of casualties since the start of the aggression on October 7 has reached 15,207 deaths and 40,652 injuries.
On the other hand, the Palestinian resistance fought back against the Israeli army on multiple fronts, causing losses among Israeli soldiers. The Al-Qassam Brigades, the military arm of Hamas, shared videos of their fighters clashing with Israeli forces in Beit Hanoun.
Israeli Recognition
The Israeli army also acknowledged the killing of Colonel Assaf Hamami, the commander of the Southern Brigade in the Gaza Division. This brings the total number of bodies held by Hamas to four, all of whom were killed in the October 7 attacks. The announced death toll of the Israeli army now stands at 396 since the start of the war.
Political Movements
Alongside the military developments, diplomatic efforts are underway to revive the truce in Gaza. The Emir of Qatar received a phone call from US Vice President Kamala Harris, expressing their commitment to mediating a ceasefire to prevent further humanitarian catastrophe.
The Hamas Political Bureau announced that they will not exchange prisoners with Israel until the aggression stops. However, talks to release hostages are reportedly ongoing at a slow pace.
Turkish Initiative for Gaza
A Russian newspaper revealed that Turkey is preparing an initiative to address the situation in Gaza after the ongoing Israeli war. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's recent visit to the United Nations Climate Summit in the Emirates is believed to be related to this initiative.
Turkey stands with the Palestinian factions ruling Gaza and insists on their participation in any political system. Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan proposed that certain countries become guarantors for Palestine, including Turkey, while others become guarantors for Israel.
The initiative is still being prepared, and its main provisions will be shared with a wider audience in the future.
