The decision of the Knesset to ban the activities of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA) in the occupied territories has drawn widespread international condemnation, with the European Union and Western countries considering this step to increase the suffering of Palestinian refugees.
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres expressed his concern about the impact of the decision, warning of devastating consequences on the lives of Palestinian refugees and on the path to peace and stability in the region.
Guterres emphasized that UNRWA remains the main provider of humanitarian support to Palestinian refugees, expressing his rejection of any alternative that may undermine their basic interests.
