Many heroes in Gaza have captured numerous images of the continuous struggle and resistance since the beginning of the "Al-Aqsa Storm" operation, which the occupation has followed with great impact in Palestine, assassinating them to assassinate greatness by killing them. Each of them resists in his own way, as some of them carry the weapon of knowledge, medicine, or the pen, while others resist on the medical front. Some have written books and poems describing the situation of the Palestinian people.
The medical front
Doctors have also written heroic stories since the beginning of the brutal war on Gaza, such as Dr. Iyad Al-Rantisi, who was the head of the obstetrics and gynecology department at Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza Strip.
Since October 7, 2023, Al-Rantisi has not returned home, as he remained in his post under the harsh conditions that pregnant women face in the department. He was burdened by the number of surgeries he had to perform every day, but he remained determined not to leave Gaza, saying, "We will not leave Gaza... it's either victory or martyrdom."
After 40 days of the genocide war on Gaza, the occupation army stormed Kamal Adwan Hospital on foot and arrested more than 7 doctors and dozens of displaced people there.
The Red Cross occasionally published lists of names of released prisoners, and his family eagerly awaited each list hoping that Dr. Al-Rantisi would be among those released, but each time they were surprised and puzzled as they did not find his name!
His family was shocked after 7 months when the news was published stating: "Dr. Iyad Al-Rantisi was killed under torture 7 months ago," just 6 months after his arrest at an Israeli security investigation center in Ashkelon.
The family was devastated by the news and wondered in dismay: what was Dr. Al-Rantisi's crime except for his steadfastness in northern Gaza, his refusal to evacuate as demanded by the brutal occupier, and his stand in the heart of the medical front? He did not take a break as a warrior since the start of the aggression on Gaza, leaning against a wall at the hospital corridor if there was an empty space available, after the hospital had become filled with hundreds of displaced people who sought refuge in the hospital corridors after losing their homes to bombings and destruction.
Steadfastness and resilience
Dr. Yusra Al-Muqaddam, another example of those who made heroic contributions during the genocide war on Gaza, was a successful and inspiring math teacher at UNRWA schools in Gaza before the genocide. She also became a member of the shelter operations department since October 7, 2023, and her job transformed to preparing the needs of the displaced in shelters in northern Gaza Strip.
Al-Muqaddamah refused to leave Gaza and continued to provide psychological services to women and children who were greatly affected by the war. She also guided displaced families and provided them with psychological and material support.
Dr. Ahmed Al-Muqaddamah
There were many opportunities for Yusra to leave Gaza, but she chose to stay and insisted on it. One of her sayings was: "I will not leave Gaza even if no one else remains."
Yusra was accompanied by her son, Dr. Ahmed Al-Muqaddamah, who had a significant impact in all the recent wars on Gaza. He is a specialist in cosmetic surgery and works in the burn unit at Shifa Hospital.
Dr. Al-Muqaddamah obtained a fellowship in humanitarian innovation from the Royal College of Surgeons in England. He saw his work in the medical field as a form of resistance on the land of Palestine, while his mother believed that her work in serving the displaced was a way of serving God.
For over 6 months, Dr. Al-Muqaddamah did not see his wife and child who had been displaced to southern Gaza. He preferred to serve his homeland with the knowledge he gained abroad. He documented most of his surgeries to create an archive for his medical colleagues and sent them to more experienced doctors to benefit from their knowledge.
Dr. Al-Muqaddamah and his mother sought shelter in Shifa Medical Complex after their rented house was bombed. In March, the occupation forces raided the hospital and besieged it, forcing hundreds of displaced people, including Dr. Al-Muqaddamah and his mother, to leave. However, they were shot by snipers before reaching the new shelter, becoming martyrs.
The Palestinian resistance writer Amna Hameed resisted with her pen, as she wrote in her influential post: "I have never been one to hesitate, bow my head, retreat, or falter. Nothing will stop me from holding on to the sanctity of secrets and carrying and delivering the message that I have understood deeply since my childhood."
Amna Hameed
Amna Hameed decided not to leave Gaza and refused to evacuate. Her words, articles, poems, and literary texts about Palestine, Jerusalem, martyrs, and prisoners have appeared in magazines and newspapers.
Hamid graduated from the College of Journalism at the Islamic University in 2016, and completed her master's studies at Al-Aqsa University. She is also a social activist advocating for the rights of Palestinian women and children.
At the beginning of the extermination war, she and her journalist husband, Sa'id Husuna, established the platform "Stories from Gaza" to write about the martyrs and their killed dreams and wishes that were buried before seeing the light. they documented many stories of the victims of the war on Gaza.
In early December, the occupation army stormed their home and separated her from her husband, forcing him to evacuate to the south of Gaza alone. She remained steadfast with her children in the north of Gaza.
In mid-March, Hamid was filmed with several journalists speaking about the violations against children and civilians in Gaza, which was broadcasted on the Hebrew "Channel 14" with incitement against journalists. One month after the video was aired, they bombed the house where Hamid and her children were staying, and she martyr along with her eldest son to heaven without her husband bidding farewell to her. Complaining to God about the injustice inflicted on the Palestinian people, while her four children were seriously injured.
Resistance by Cameras
As for the photojournalist Hamza al-Dahduh, he decided to resist with the images he captured of the crimes and massacres of the occupation, who stayed in the tent of journalists for a hundred days even after he lost his mother and brothers since the early days of the "Aqsa Flood" war. When hearing about events and massacres in a certain area, he rushes to reach it to document the brutality and arrogance of the occupier.
At the beginning of the fourth month of the aggression on Gaza, Al-Dahduh set out with his colleague Mustafa Tharia to document two massacres committed by the occupation by shelling houses on their residents, but on their way, a missile from a warplane ambushed them, leaving their bodies maimed and their car burnt as they departed as martyrs for the truth. While their journalist colleagues continued the journey of exposing the crimes, as the occupation feared the lenses that captured the massacres and broadcasted them to the outside world, where more than 187 journalists were killed since October 7, 2023.
Many figures had their journey assassinated by the brutal occupation and their progress halted, but they remained icons of sacrifice and steadfastness. They sacrificed their lives for Al-Aqsa and Palestine, and their impact remained in the path of victory and liberation, such as doctors, artists, teachers, academics, engineers, imams, preachers, poets, intellectuals, and writers.
