A recent survey showed that only 29% of Israelis think that Netanyahu is the best person to lead their government. That's not a lot of people! This survey came out when the Israeli army was losing ground in Gaza. In the past 24 years, 15 Israeli soldiers got injured, including two important commanders. Since October 7, a total of 2,511 soldiers and officers have been hurt, with over 5,000 injured. That's a lot of casualties!
Injured Commanders
The media in Israel reported that the commanders of the 8226th Battalion and the 363rd Battalion were wounded in the battles in Gaza. It's tough when even the leaders get hurt.
Air Rescue Unit
There is an air rescue unit that helps evacuate the injured soldiers from the central Gaza Strip. They are working hard to save lives.
More Losses
The number of Israeli soldiers who died also went up to 520. Since the ground operation started on October 26, 192 soldiers lost their lives. That's really sad.
What the Poll Says
According to a poll, only 29% of Israelis think Netanyahu is the best person to lead the government. But 42% believe that Benny Gantz, who is a Minister in the War Council, is more suitable for the position. There were also 20% of people who didn't have a specific answer. This poll was done by the Lazar Institute on a random sample of 515 Israelis.
Disappointment with Netanyahu
Another poll showed that 64% of Israelis were not happy with how Netanyahu handled the war in Gaza. That's a big majority!
Parliamentary Elections
If there were elections in Israel, Gantz's party, called the State Camp, would be the biggest party with 33 seats. In the last election, they only won 12 seats. On the other hand, Netanyahu's party, the Likud Party, would win 20 seats compared to the 33 they won before. Things are changing!
Protests and Criticisms
Thousands of Israelis are protesting every week, asking for the current government to resign and for early elections to be held. Many people, including opposition members and former officials, are criticizing Netanyahu for not managing the government and the war on Gaza properly.
