Trapped in Conspiracy: Gaza's Siege and Our Unyielding Duty

By Mohammed Mahdi Akef February 05, 2024 1203

Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds. May peace and blessings be upon the Prophet, the Guiding and Trustworthy, Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah, his family, and his companions.

“O Prophet, sufficient for you is Allah and for whoever follows you of the believers.” (Al-Anfal: 64). This is how the Almighty addressed His Prophet, Muhammad (peace be upon him), supporting him against the schemes of his enemies and their betrayals. Now, we say the same to our besieged brethren in the Gaza Strip: O our people of Palestine, do not be disheartened, and do not be saddened.

Your faith, patience, steadfastness, and resilience have become exemplary. It inspires nations aspiring for freedom. Your steadfastness and resilience will not be in vain. Allah is with you, and He will not forsake your efforts.

O our beloved brethren in Gaza,

We disassociate ourselves and apologize to you for the failure of Arab and Islamic regimes and governments to lift the siege on you and for not confronting the catastrophic tragedy aimed at exterminating you, breaking your will, and subjugating you. We apologize to you today.

Not for abandoning you, for you are in the depths of our hearts, and we are brothers in religion and blood, ready to sacrifice for you anytime with no hesitation, but for the injustice and tyranny of those close to you.

Because the oppression of close relatives is more intense and oppressive to the soul than a sharp sword.

As well as the shameful stances of the rulers, as seeking their refuge in distress is like seeking refuge from burning coals in the fire.

We apologize to you for this miserable reality, where the leaders of the nation are indifferent and their faces show no sympathy to support children, widows, and the weak who are subjected to these heinous crimes that should move the conscience of every living being. “So do not weaken and do not grieve, and you will be superior if you are [true] believers.” (Al-Imran: 139).

O our beloved people in resilient and patient Gaza,

O steadfast and vigilant Gazans,

Know that you are on the right path, the most honorable, and the strongest, despite your circumstances. The honorable people of the nation, the purest among them, stand behind you, guiding your steps and supporting you with everything they have. They are fully prepared to offer all permissible and valuable resources for the sake of your victory. Understand, dear ones, that you bear the banner of the honor and dignity of the nation, and rest assured that the victory of Allah is coming, and it is close, so do not despair. Allah says, “And Allah will surely support those who support Him. Indeed, Allah is Powerful and Exalted in Might.” (Al-Hajj: 40) and abide by Allah’s saying: “O you who have believed, persevere and endure and remain stationed and fear Allah that you may be successful.” (Al-Imran: 200).

Heinous Atrocities

The tragic situation in Gaza is a stain on all humanity, and the official Arab and Islamic silence about what is happening in Gaza surpasses all logical and human limits. Despite the horrifying scenes that move even the non-living and the unimaginable numbers:

  • 31% of Palestinian patients prohibited from treatment abroad by the Zionist authorities are children under the age of 15!
  • 1700 heart and kidney failure patients and newborns are at risk of death in Gaza due to the cessation of operating rooms, ventilators, and intensive care units!
  • 93% of Palestinians have given up their daily living requirements!
  • 51% of children no longer have the desire to participate in any activities, and 47% of them are no longer able to perform school or family duties!
  • 41% of Gaza's children are physically ill!
  • 48% of Gaza's children suffer from low energy due to malnutrition, and the harsh blockade conditions have led to a 40% school absence rate, while 50% of non-absentee students face concentration problems while studying.
  • More than 3500 industrial, commercial, and artisanal establishments have closed, resulting in the loss of over 75,000 Palestinian jobs!
  • Reports from Gaza have revealed news that contradicts all human values and principles, sending shivers down the spine. It was reported that bakeries have started grinding wheat allocated for bird and animal feed, turning it into flour to meet market demands!! Oh God!! In the face of such a situation, has the conscience of a single Arab ruler not stirred to offer any kind of support, or even to condemn or denounce? What kind of helplessness is this, and what kind of shame is this? Has it reached the point of preventing pilgrims from Gaza from going to perform the Hajj (pilgrimage)? The events in Gaza have exposed all those who hide behind the Zio-American project, stripped them of their masks, and revealed their hypocrisy.

These sinful wrongdoers are obstructing aid from reaching the people of Gaza.

Have their hearts - if they have any - not been moved by the cries of children, the sick, and the needy?!

Our Duties

It is time for the Islamic nations to break the shackles of the oppressive siege and take a stance that pleases their Lord. Civil society institutions and elites must mobilize, utilizing their minds, to come up with new mechanisms and means to break this unprecedented and humiliating blockade.

Every individual or institution must exert efforts to break this degrading and unprecedented blockade, reflecting an era where we have lost much of our chivalry, courage, and manhood.

Moreover, the scholars of the nation and leaders of thought and opinion must own up to their rightful positions. They should play their role in leading and guiding the nation, leading the front lines to break this siege. Let the nation's marches and relief convoys move freely from the ocean to the Gulf. Let the people impose their will and speak their word without fear or hesitation, so that they do not face shame and disgrace in this world and the Hereafter. Let them trust that they are capable of achieving their goals and reaching their aspirations.

The state of political coma and stupidity experienced by governments and regimes has made them unaware of the true interests of national security in their countries. Unfortunately, they are leading the nation towards further collapse and disgrace.

It is time to do good before Allah without hesitation, reluctance, or weakness. Arab and Muslim rulers must fear Allah in their nations and rise to the level of their nations’ hopes and aspirations.

To the honorable individuals everywhere:

The current situation does not require mere words; they will not eat our words or read our condemnations in Gaza, nor will they drink from the tears of our sadness for them.

Gaza needs more from us—something stronger and more effective. It requires serious action to break this oppressive and unjust blockade affecting a million and a half human souls, and this is the responsibility of everyone without exception.

Compile a blacklist with the names of the discouragers and their accomplices so that they may bear the shame and disgrace until the Day of Judgment. As Allah says, “And never think that Allah is unaware of what the wrongdoers do. He only delays them for a Day when eyes will stare [in horror]. Racing ahead, their heads raised up, their glance does not come back to them, and their hearts are void.” (Ibrahim: 42-43).

A Message to the Pilgrims, in the best days of Allah, the Ten Days of Dhul-Hijjah, the days of the great Hajj, and the Day of Arafat, we must live and experience the Hajj with all its meanings.

The actions of Hajj, its takbirs (exalting Allah), and its tasbeehs (glorification of Allah) during these days must be reflected in our reality. When we say takbir along with the pilgrims, we must understand its true meaning.

Allah, the Almighty, is greater than this world and everything in it.

Allah is greater than every oppressive tyrant who sold himself and his country to the devil for the sake of temporary personal pleasures.

Allah is greater than those who remain indifferent and fail to act in support of the innocent, sick, and hungry children of Gaza.

Allah is greater than every ruler who remains silent and doesn't move to lift oppression from the oppressed.

When we say “labaik allahuma labaik” (I respond to Your call, O Allah! I respond to Your call), it should transform into actions and prayers to support Islam, help the oppressed, and extend a helping hand to them.

Let us raise our hands in prayer with the pilgrims for the people of Palestine: that Allah unites them, strengthens their hearts, and keeps them steadfast. Let our tongues echo prayers against those who have neglected or hesitated to support our besieged brethren, asking Allah to show us His signs against the oppressors and their supporters: “And those who have wronged are going to know to what [kind of] return they will be returned.” (Ash-Shu'ara: 227).

Everyone, come together!

Turn to Allah.

Let efforts unite, and let all forces collaborate to lift the siege on the people of Gaza. Organize relief convoys and exert pressure on governments to provide them electricity, fuel, and everything they need.

No one has an excuse from now on. Let's move, each according to their capacity. As the Salaf said, “The ones with the greatest capacity are the ones with the greatest faith.”

Let's all—individuals, institutions, and civil society organizations—work together to end this injustice and oppression. Don't allow our honorable, resilient people to be subjugated. “And indeed, Allah is competent to give them victory.” (Al-Hajj: 39).

Race towards Allah, sacrificing and exerting efforts to support our brethren. Don't be concerned about those discouragers or indifferents. Know that Allah will perfect His light, even if it takes time. “And Allah is predominant over His affair, but most of the people do not know.” (Yusuf: 21). Allah is the Greatest, and to Allah belongs all praise.
