Strategic Issues

A recent article from the Wall Street Journal discusses whether Israel can actually defeat Hamas.

According to the Al-Monitor website, Israel has been fighting against Hamas in the Gaza Strip since October 7th. But even though they have been destroying a lot of buildings and infrastructure in the northern part of Gaza, Israeli leaders admit that Hamas is still going strong.

Hamas' Strength

A senior Israeli military source, who wanted to remain anonymous, told Al-Monitor that Hamas still has a lot of power. The fighters of the movement are hiding underground and can move around using a network of tunnels that Hamas built under Gaza. This makes it difficult for Israel to completely defeat them.

Hamas will continue

While the Hamas command structure has been heavily damaged, most of the fighters, estimated to be around 20,000, have not been injured. This means that Hamas can still continue fighting, even though their leaders have been targeted.

Can Hamas be Eliminated?

Military experts believe that getting rid of Hamas is not an easy task. The resistance factions within Hamas are still capable of fighting, and it might take months or even years to completely eliminate them, according to some analysts.

Doubts from US Intelligence

The Wall Street Journal quoted a source from the American intelligence community who doubts Israel's ability to achieve its goal of eliminating Hamas. While the Israeli military campaign has caused damage to Hamas and its infrastructure, it might not be enough to completely get rid of their ideology.

The Toll of the Conflict

For 36 days, the Israeli army has been fighting in Gaza, using air, land, and sea attacks. Unfortunately, this has resulted in the destruction of residential areas and the loss of many lives. According to official sources, 11,780 Palestinians were killed, including 4,506 children, 3,027 women, and 678 elderly people. Additionally, 27,490 people were injured with various injuries.

It seems like eliminating Hamas is not an easy task for Israel. While they have caused damage to the group, Hamas still has a lot of fighters and support.

Newsweek wrote an article about Hassan Nasrallah, the leader of Lebanese Hezbollah. They said that he disappointed the Palestinians and their supporters.

Nasrallah's Absence

According to Newsweek, Nasrallah has been pretty absent from the public eye during all the tensions going on. Instead, lower-level officials from his party have been speaking to the press and supporters.

Expectations vs. Reality

People were really excited when they heard that Nasrallah would finally speak up. They thought he might announce some big moves or make things even more intense. But guess what? He didn't! Instead, he just talked about how Hezbollah joined the conflict on October 8th and called for a ceasefire in Gaza. He also showed support for Hamas and the Palestinian people.

America's Response

The United States knew about Nasrallah's speech too. A spokesperson from the US State Department said that they didn't want things to escalate or get worse. They warned that the attacks could turn into a bigger war between Israel and Lebanon than what happened in 2006.

Hezbollah's Strategy

Avi Melamed, a former Israeli intelligence official, shared his thoughts on Hezbollah's position. He said that Nasrallah's words didn't convince him because he believes Hezbollah is capable of much more than what they've shown so far.

That's all from Newsweek's report. It seems like Nasrallah's speech didn't meet everyone's expectations. We'll have to wait and see what happens next!

Kuwait, including its leadership, people, National Assembly, and government, is closely following the violent events unfolding in the Palestinian territories, particularly in the Gaza Strip. They strongly condemn the Israeli aggression, which includes bombings, sieges, violations of human rights, destruction, and attempts at forced displacement. These actions go against humanitarian values, international laws, and conventions.

Kuwait National Assembly: Holding Occupation Leaders Accountable as War Criminals

During a special public session, the National Assembly discussed the violations committed by the leaders of the "Zionist entity" in Gaza. The session later turned secret at the government's request. The Council Speaker, Ahmed Al-Saadoun, asked everyone to leave the hall, and the session became secret according to the Constitution.

The Recommendations

  1.  Prosecuting the Leaders

The National Assembly wants to prosecute the president and other leaders of the "Zionist entity" as war criminals. They want to do this in international forums, like the International Criminal Court, and in parliaments around the world. They also want the parliamentary division to lead the legal, political, and media efforts in this matter.

The National Assembly shows solidarity with the Palestinian people in Gaza and other occupied territories. They believe in their right to struggle for their own independent state and to protect their holy places.

  1. Calling for Action

They want them to take real decisions and practical steps to break the siege in Gaza, support the struggle, reject any normalization with the "Zionist occupier," open all crossings, and provide aid.

  1.  Reuniting Families

The government will work to bring back Palestinian teachers in Kuwait who are separated from their families in Gaza. They want to reunite them as soon as possible.

  1.  Gaza Reconstruction Fund

  1. Strictly Pursuing Discordant Communication

The National Assembly wants the government to take action against anyone who communicates with the "occupying entity" in any way that goes against the law. They want to implement the existing boycott of Israel law.

  1. Kuwait Humanitarian City

The government, along with charitable committees and humanitarian associations, plans to establish the "Kuwait Humanitarian City" in Gaza. This city will have homes, schools, and healthcare facilities to support the people and prevent their displacement.

  1. Urgent Medical Arrangements

The Ministry of Health, in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, will make arrangements to bring injured people from Gaza, especially children and women, to Kuwait hospitals for urgent and effective treatment.

  1. Broadcasting the Session

The special session held by the National Assembly will be broadcasted on TV and translated into different languages so that people around the world can understand what's happening.

  1. Kuwaiti Airspace Closure

The government will continue to keep Kuwaiti airspace and lands closed to any operation against the people of Palestine.

  1. Rejecting Normalization

The National Assembly strongly opposes any form of normalization with the "Zionist entity." They don't want the Kuwaiti Foreign Ministry or any state institutions to sign any joint statements with countries or international institutions that support normalization or condemn the Palestinian right to resist the occupier.

  1. Diplomatic Measures

The National Assembly wants the Kuwaiti government to take diplomatic measures to:

- Immediately stop the aggression by the "Zionist entity."

- Protect civilians.

- Reject displacement and prevent a repeat of the Nakba (a historical event).

13.Unity and Support

The National Assembly emphasizes the unity of the Kuwaiti people and their efforts in supporting this important cause.

Kuwait National Assembly has made some strong recommendations to hold the leaders of the "Zionist entity" accountable for their actions in Gaza. They want justice for the Palestinian people and support from other countries. It's important to stand up for what's right and support those who need it.

The Social Reform Society's "Success - Journey 2" Event

An awesome event called "Success - Journey 2" is being organized by the Social Reform Society. They joined forces with the Joud Charitable Society to make this event happen. The main goal of this event was to encourage kids like you to love reading in Arabic and to help older students with their academic skills. They also wanted to help parents support their children's education. All of this is part of their plan to strengthen our Islamic and Arab identity and guide us towards science, morals, and life skills.

Partnership with Joud Charity Association

The Social Reform Society teamed up with the Joud Charity Association to support the Arabic language and teach it to different groups of people. They had a super talented team of teachers who knew all about teaching Arabic. They organized workshops for primary school students, and trust me, these workshops were really fun and interesting!

Workshops for Students

During the event, students had the chance to participate in six different workshops. These workshops were designed to make us fall in love with the Arabic language, learn important educational values, and discover cool facts about the Al-Aqsa Mosque. For middle and high school students, they had special workshops like the "Creating Success" and "Study Smart" workshops. These workshops were all about helping us become successful in our studies.

Workshop for Parents

But wait, they didn't forget about our parents! They organized a workshop just for them called "Children and Study." The goal was to give our parents the skills and support they need to help us with our studies. How cool is that?

Event Dates

The event started on October 30 and went on until November 1. It was a fantastic few days filled with learning and fun. The Social Reform Society worked really hard to make the "Success - Journey 2" event a success.

American Rabbi Israel David Weiss, a prominent member of the Neturei Karta movement, expressed his belief that there is a no relations between Judaism and Israel.

In an interview with Anatolia, he stated that the ideology of Zionism, which is associated with the State of Israel, has no connection to Judaism, which is a religion. Rabbi Weiss emphasized that Judaism and Zionism are fundamentally different and even contradictory, using the analogy of the earth and the sky.

He pointed out that the commandments of the Torah explicitly prohibit killing and stealing, actions that he believes are present in the establishment of the Israeli state.

Rabbi Weiss referred to the Nakba of 1948, during which Palestinians were forcibly displaced, as a result of what he considers to be theft committed by the Israelis.

He expressed solidarity with the Palestinians and criticized Israel for inciting hatred and being an anti-Semitic state. Ultimately, Rabbi Weiss prays for the liberation of Palestine and the eventual disappearance of the Zionist state.

Muslims around the World

Afghanistan celebrated Palestine by inaugurating a replica of the Dome of the Rock in Kabul. The mosque, funded by a Turkish charity, is named after Mullah Omar, the founder of the Taliban.

This construction is part of a global wave of solidarity with Palestine and support for Gaza amid the Israeli aggression. The mosque symbolizes the strong bond between Muslims and serves as a tribute to the Palestinians.

The gilded dome stands prominently on a hill in Kabul, and its inauguration ceremony was attended by Taliban officials expressing their support.

Afghan Interior Minister Siraj al-Din Haqqani stated that the mosque represents the love of Muslims, especially Afghans, for Palestine.

Organizers expressed their happiness that the mosque resembles the original Dome of the Rock, emphasizing the importance of having such holy places in every Muslim country.

The war on Gaza has greatly affected the Israeli economy. The Israeli Ministry of Finance is worried that if the war goes on for a long time, it could cause a recession in Israel.

The Ministry's Concerns

The Israeli Ministry of Finance believes that if the war continues, it could lead to a recession in Israel this year and the next. They are especially worried if the war expands to include other areas besides Gaza. This could have a big impact on the economy.

What Could Happen?

The Israeli Ministry of Finance has come up with different scenarios to understand how the economy might be affected. They have some predictions based on how the crisis unfolds.

Scenario 1: Limited Confrontation

In this scenario, the war stays focused on Gaza and there is a limited conflict with Hezbollah in Lebanon. The Ministry estimates that this would lead to a loss of working days and affect the GDP (Gross Domestic Product). They predict a decline in economic growth to about 0.6% or 11.8 billion shekels (around 3 billion dollars) if the crisis lasts for a month.

Scenario 2: Conflict Expansion

In this scenario, the conflict expands to include both Gaza and Lebanon, but only for a month. The loss of GDP during 2023-2024 would be around 44 billion shekels (11 billion dollars). Economic growth would decline to 2.2% in 2023 and 2.5% in 2024. However, the Ministry hopes for a recovery by the third quarter of 2024.

Scenario 3: Extended Conflict

If the conflict continues for a longer time and spreads to more than one front, the loss of GDP could reach a whopping 67 billion shekels (17 billion dollars). Growth rates would decline to 1.3% in 2023 and 0.6% in the following year. Recovery might not begin until the fourth quarter of the next year.

The Current Situation

As of now, the war has been going on for 22 days. Israel has been targeting civilians in Gaza, resulting in a high number of Palestinian casualties. The Palestinian resistance, led by the Hamas movement, has responded by bombing Israel. The situation is tense and uncertain.

The war on Gaza is not only causing human suffering for Palestinians but also impacting the Israeli economy. The longer the war goes on and the more it spreads, the worse the economic consequences could be.

The Murky World of Cyber Warfare

In the world of cyber warfare, things can get pretty confusing. Offensive cyber weapons are becoming more common, and it's hard to keep track of who's who in the battle. Criminals, states, activists, and others are all involved in this digital battlefield.

Hamas: The Interesting Cyber Warriors

The cyber warriors of Hamas, the Islamic Resistance Movement, have caught the attention of many. While some may not consider them strong or weak, they are definitely interesting, according to a senior officer in the IDFs Cyber Directorate.

How Did Hamas Develop Their Cyber Capabilities?

Let's take a look at how Hamas developed its cyber capabilities and what they have been up to.

The First Drop: "Spray and Hope"

In 2002, Hamas made its first known cyber attack against Israel. They hacked Israeli army reconnaissance drones and obtained footage recorded by these drones. At that time, their cyber operations were limited to phishing attacks, where they sent malicious spy files to random email accounts, hoping someone would open them. This tactic was known as "Spray and Pray."

The Drops Are Gathering: De Dos is the First Tactic

In 2012, during Operation "Cast Lead," Hamas attacked Israeli websites, including the Home Front Command and the Israeli army spokesman's website. They declared that electronic attacks were an integral part of their war against Israel.

In 2013, a group called "Izz al-Din al-Qassam Cyber Hackers" carried out a DDOS attack on the American Express website. Unlike traditional DDOS attacks, they used a programming language that allowed them to control a network of servers and carry out a more powerful attack.

In the summer of 2014, during the Israeli "Operation Protective Edge," Hamas increased its attempts to attack civilian and military sites in Israel. They even hacked soldiers through the WhatsApp application, gaining access to their phones and opening dating applications without their knowledge.

Floods of Love from Hamas Sweep Away Israeli Soldiers

In January 2017, it was revealed that Hamas had hacked dozens of phones belonging to Israeli soldiers and officers. They also hacked hundreds of military-related groups on Facebook, gaining access to private information.

In July 2018, Hamas launched a sophisticated cyber attack using fake profiles of women on social media networks. They aimed to control soldiers' mobile phones and computers. Through this attack, they were able to control microphones and cameras without the owners' knowledge.

Hamas also created a Facebook group and an Android application related to the 2018 FIFA World Cup to lure Israeli fans. By downloading the application, Israeli users unknowingly gave Hamas access to their phone data.

In August 2018, Hamas planted spyware on Israeli mobile phones through an application that mimicked the Red Alert app. This allowed them to gather information from unsuspecting users.

As you can see, Hamas has come a long way in developing its cyber capabilities. Their tactics have evolved over time, and they continue to pose a threat in the digital battlefield.

How Hamas Carries Out Cyber Attacks

Hamas has found a sneaky way to carry out cyber-attacks. They create fake profiles on social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter. These profiles trick people into downloading an application. Once the app is on their phones, Hamas gains control over them. They can then monitor and manipulate the phones from a distance. It's like having a spy in your pocket!

Timing is Everything

What's really interesting is that Hamas times their cyber-attacks to match their physical attacks. For example, when they launched hundreds of rockets at Israel, they also launched a major social media campaign. They created fake accounts that looked like they were from Hebrew speakers, urging people to download their new app. It was a coordinated effort to cause chaos and confusion.

Hamas' First Target

Before we dive into how Hamas' cyber-attacks have been successful, let's talk about a big moment in 2019. This was the first time a sophisticated army publicly announced that they were targeting a group of cyber hackers. The Israeli military claimed to have attacked a building in Gaza, which they said was the headquarters of Hamas' cyber force. It was a significant move that showed just how seriously they were taking this new kind of warfare.

How Hamas' Cyber Attacks Worked

Now, let's explore how Hamas' cyber-attacks have been successful. There are a few factors that have contributed to their effectiveness:

  1. Targeting Young and Inexperienced Soldiers

In Israel, military service is compulsory, which means most soldiers are young and inexperienced. Hamas took advantage of this by targeting them through dating apps and hobbies like football. They would gather information about the soldiers, their workplaces, relatives, and even their subordinates. This helped them create detailed profiles on each person, giving them valuable knowledge.

  1. Gathering Information from social media

Once Hamas had collected information from social media platforms, they would use special applications to target their victims. These apps were tailored to exploit the vulnerabilities they had discovered. For example, if they found out a soldier was into football, they might create a football-related app. The goal was to track the soldiers' movements, especially in specific areas like military camps. This kind of secret information is hard to obtain through traditional spying methods.

  1. Drawing Maps and Making Plans

Hamas' cyber warriors would use certain applications to draw maps of the soldiers' movements. This helped them understand the layout of military camps and plan their attacks. They could then provide their fighters on the ground with these maps, giving them an advantage during physical confrontations.

  1. Surprising the World

What's really impressive is that Hamas, with their limited resources, managed to penetrate Israel's advanced cyber defenses. They were like guerrilla fighters in the world of the Internet, using their skills to outsmart a country known for its cyber capabilities. It was a surprising and bold move.

Thus Hamas has shown us a new kind of threat - cyber-attacks. They have used fake profiles and sneaky apps to gain control over their enemies' phones. By targeting young soldiers and gathering information from social media, they were able to carry out successful attacks.

The Tragic Impact of Israeli Aggression on Children in Gaza

Did you know that the ongoing Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip has taken the lives of many innocent children? According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, a shocking 1,903 children have been killed in the past 16 days. But the real number might be even higher because some of these children are still buried under the rubble of their destroyed homes.

The Unprecedented Rate of Child Casualties

The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Observatory reports that the Israeli aggression has resulted in an unprecedented number of Palestinian children and infants losing their lives. The Israeli army has been targeting buildings and residential areas, causing immense harm to innocent children.

The Devastating Impact

Defense for Children International, Palestine Branch, has confirmed that every day, 120 Palestinian children are killed due to the continuous bombing by the Israeli occupation army. These bombings not only destroy homes but also cause severe injuries like burns and wounds from shrapnel and falling debris.

Additional Challenges

On top of the ongoing aggression, hospitals in Gaza are facing power outages, which puts the lives of infants at risk. Incubators, which are crucial for premature babies, are in a catastrophic situation due to the electricity and food crises.

The situation is further worsened by the fact that 7 hospitals and 21 health centers in Gaza are currently out of service, according to the Ministry of Health.

The Long Road to Recovery

Even for the children who survive the attacks, the trauma they experience is haunting. They desperately need mental health services and psycho-social support to help them recover. The road to recovery is long, especially for the hundreds of children who have lost their families in these attacks.

It is heartbreaking to see the devastating impact of the Israeli aggression on the lives of innocent children in Gaza.
