According to a report from The Jerusalem Post, experts say that the fighting is going to last longer because of the tricky urban warfare tactics used by Hamas.
Hamas Still Strong
Dr. Michael Milstein, who studies Palestinian issues, says that even though Israel has caused a lot of damage, they are still far from overthrowing Hamas. Most of the Hamas fighters are still alive, and they still have rockets. So, it's not going to be easy for Israel to win this fight.
Resistance Over Governance
Hamas cares more about fighting than ruling Gaza or helping people. They don't need government buildings like parliament or courts to continue their fight. As long as they have weapons and fighters, they are happy. Their main goal is to resist Israel, not to govern.
Underground Tunnels
Experts believe that Hamas has a secret network of tunnels where they make and store their weapons. These tunnels also have prisoners and Hamas leaders hiding in them. This makes it even harder for Israel to fight against Hamas because they can hide underground.
Israel's Plan
Israel's plan is to use their powerful air force to weaken Hamas. Then, they want to surround the areas controlled by Hamas and slowly take control over time. But this is a very complicated process that will take a lot of patience and time. It might also cost more lives for Israeli soldiers.
No Quick End
Even if Israel manages to kill the leader of Hamas, Yahya Sinwar, there will still be resistance. The end of Hamas is not coming anytime soon. It's going to be a long and exhausting war, and Israel won't be able to say they've won until all of Hamas is defeated.
Israel is finding it difficult to defeat Hamas because of the complex urban warfare tactics used by Hamas. It's going to be a long and tough battle, but we'll have to wait and see what happens.
