Secretary-General of the Royal Committee for Jerusalem Affairs in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Dr. Abdullah Kanaan, confirmed that the Zionist movement has planned to seize Al-Aqsa since its inception and build the temple in its place.
Kanaan added in a short interview with "Al-Mujtamaa": When we talk about Al-Aqsa, we mean 144 dunums, the entire Noble Sanctuary in Jerusalem which includes the Dome of the Rock, the Qibli Mosque, as well as other religious sites such as platforms, centers of knowledge, schools, and museums. This is Al-Aqsa for us, and this is the text of the dialogue:
The role of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in supporting Al-Aqsa Mosque is undeniable, and now the mosque is under a fierce attack, as Jews seek to demolish it and build the alleged temple in its place. What is the role of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in confronting this Zionist encroachment?
- First, I extend greetings to the State of Kuwait, its leadership, government, and people, and I do not say this as a formality, but we follow with admiration what the Kuwaiti people are doing and what they offer towards Jordan, which cannot be denied by anyone. Our relations with the State of Kuwait are good and wonderful on the level of leadership, officials, and the people of both countries.
As for the issue of Al-Aqsa Mosque and the story of the alleged temple, it is a long story. The Zionist movement has planned to seize Al-Aqsa and build the temple in its place since its inception. When we talk about Al-Aqsa, we mean 144 dunums, the entire Noble Sanctuary in Jerusalem which includes the Dome of the Rock, the Qibli Mosque, as well as other religious sites like platforms, centers of knowledge, schools, and museums. This is Al-Aqsa for us.
The Zionist movement has cemented in the minds of those who believe in it that establishing the temple in place of this Al-Aqsa is a necessity so that they can bring all the Jews of the world to Palestine. Because their goal is to seize all of Palestine and then establish Greater Israel, which extends not from the sea to the river, but from the Euphrates to the Nile. This is their goal that they work towards and plan to achieve.
They are achieving their goals in stages, but they have not been able to achieve this goal so far, due to the awareness of the Arab nation, the Palestinian people, and the Islamic countries, where they have been able to stop this fierce attack as much as possible.
Jordan has been in charge of the affairs of Al-Aqsa Mosque, the holy sites, and Jerusalem in Palestine since 1924, and has exempted the Islamic holy sites from the decision to sever ties because it knew that the "Israeli" Ministry of Religious Affairs was waiting for such a decision in order to take control of Al-Aqsa Mosque and the rest of the mosques. This is why the late King Hussein's view was very far when he left Al-Aqsa Mosque under Jordanian sovereignty and all the Islamic endowments in Jerusalem were under the supervision of the Jordanian Ministry of Awqaf. We have 600 employees belonging to the Jordanian Ministry of Awqaf, working in Al-Aqsa Mosque, endowments, and schools. We have 40 schools affiliated with the Awqaf in Jerusalem, and all of these facilities are under the Jordanian Ministry of Awqaf.
We also have Sharia courts under the Sharia judiciary, as we consider all of Old Jerusalem within the walls to be an Islamic endowment. Therefore, Jordan is not only responsible for the reconstruction of Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Dome of the Rock, but also supports civil society institutions in Jerusalem.
When can we expect the end of the American veto?
The American veto is the cause of all the injustice suffered by the Palestinian people, even though America is the mother of revolutions and is famous for George Washington's revolution, and its principles are known for supporting oppressed peoples and democracy in the free world in all countries. Therefore, we hope that the United States, as a great country, will stop its support for "Israeli" aggression using the veto. Every time a resolution is prepared to condemn "Israel", America rushes to use the veto.
Therefore, we say to them: Enough with the veto, so that America can regain its love from the Arab and Islamic peoples, so that future generations do not feel that America is the reason for the injustice they suffer.
The American people have now started to awaken against Zionist control over American decision-making, especially in elections. It is time for America to lead the march for the liberation of oppressed peoples, including the Palestinian people.
