Biased Coverage
The coverage of what was imagined to be two of the world's leading news networks, CNN and BBC in Gaza is just a disgrace to journalism, the language of their broadcasters always favored the Israeli narrative over objective reporting.
Western Media Bias
The so-called Western media always pretended to be objective and claimed that its journalists and reporters were not biased, but their coverage of the Gaza genocide over the past 15 months, exposed their systematic double standards, frequent violations of journalistic principles and their narratives lost all validity.
Ignoring Palestinian Suffering
Almost all Western media ignored reporting the killings and burning of Palestinian children, simply ignored the mutilated bodies of tens of thousands of dead Palestinian children and instead focused on distorting realities, claiming that Israel targeted Hamas members inside hospitals. For them the killing of Palestinian babies and children is seen as normal, it is only Israeli lives that matter.
Decades of Bias
The Western media bias in covering the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is not a new phenomenon, it has been going on this way for many decades, limiting the scope of narratives from the Palestinians, the whole Arabs and Muslims.
Lack of Accountability
In several cases, they ignored deliberately to hold Israeli officials accountable for the Israeli atrocities committed on daily bases in Gaza.
CNN's False Propaganda
In one instance at CNN, false Israeli propaganda was put on air despite warnings from staff members. The military spokesperson Daniel Hagari claimed to have found proof that Hamas was using al-Rantisi Children’s Hospital, to hide Israeli captives. Hagari showed CNN International Diplomatic Editor Nic Robertson a paper on the wall written in Arabic, which he said was a roster of Hamas members watching over the captives. “This is a guarding list. Every terrorist has his own shift,” Hagari told Robertson.
According to Al Jazeera, one of the CNN reporters recalled the broadcast as “an embarrassing moment” for CNN. “It wasn’t a Hamas roster at all,” he said. “It was a calendar, and written in Arabic were the days of the week. But the report that came out from Nic Robertson just swallowed up Israel’s claim.”
Ignoring Warnings
Al Jazeera reported that the Israeli claim had been debunked by Arabic speakers on social media before the CNN footage aired, and, according to multiple CNN journalists and an internal WhatsApp chat seen by Al Jazeera, a Palestinian producer alerted her colleagues, including Robertson, but was ignored.
Disrespectful Interview
On a TV interview, the pro-Israeli unprofessional presenter Julia Hartley-Brewer showed her disrespect for the Palestinian MP Mostafa al Barghouthi, the elegant and decent man who has devoted his life to community and public health.
Bias and Disrespect
Julia Hartley-Brewer screamed in the face of Mostafa al Barghouthi, on TALKTV, while he was attempting to speak up about the devastating situation in Gaza, and accused him of not knowing how to talk to women saying: “Maybe you’re not used to women talking, I don’t know, but I’d like to finish the sentence!”
She didn't give any chance to the Palestinian Arab perspective; she only provided a carefully constructed narrative that is specifically designed to portray the Zionist regime in a positive way.
Criticism of Media Bias
Hartley-Brewer’s haughty attitude throughout the interview has been heavily criticized, with many pointing out that the presenter’s treatment of the Palestinian MP is “disgraceful to professional media and highlights the spewing hatred she has toward Palestinians.”
Racist Expressions
The so-called western media, or to be more precise, the western propaganda used countless racist expressions that provoked outrage. In one case, on the BBC, a guest talking about Ukraine said: “It’s very emotional for me because I see European people, "referring to Ukrainians”, with blonde hair and blue eyes being killed every day”, to which the presenter responded with, “I understand and of course respect the emotion”.
Ignoring Occupation
Although the Israelis illegally occupy Palestine, Lebanese, and Syrian lands, violated and still violate several UN resolutions and international laws and conventions that call on Israel to withdraw from the occupied Arab lands, the western propaganda ignores all these facts and keeps repeating the Zionist lies. It could be said that the Western media turned out to be just a tool of spreading Israeli lies about so many different incidents over the course of not only the past 15 months but the last century. However, they start the clock where they see fit and continue to repeat Israeli propaganda uncritically.
Objective Reporting by Haaretz
On the contrary, the Israeli newspaper Haartz is one of the newspapers that talked objectively about the sufferings of the Palestinians in Gaza an objective way, in one of its articles titled “Genocide or Not, Israel Is Perpetrating War Crimes in Gaza,” published Nov 15, 2024, it talked about the Israeli atrocities. Despite facing criticism over its journalistic objective coverage, it continued to expose the Israeli crimes in Gaza.
Hypocrisy in American Values
As to American values and freedom of press and expression, the removal of two journalists, Max Blumenthal and Sam Husseini, during the press conference held by former US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, exposed the hypocrisy and double standards, manifested the fake Western values that pretend to respect freedom of press.
Propaganda Tools
Unfortunately, most of Western leading news networks are just tools of propaganda for the Zionist state, and they are surrendering to foreign lobbies' agendas. Their mission is to keep the truth away from their own people and prevent them from seeing the atrocities on the ground when the Palestinians head back to their devastated homes.
The Essence of Real Journalism
Real journalism should be honest and truthful and not ignore the facts, even if reporters and journalists don’t accept them. That is what separates good journalism from false propaganda.
