The Israeli Foreign Minister, Eli Cohen, recently made a statement saying that his country wants to assassinate the leaders of Hamas. 

Who are the Leaders?

So, there are two leaders of Hamas that Israel wants to assassinate. They are Ismail Haniyeh and Khaled Meshal. Both are political leaders. Haniyeh is in charge of the political side of Hamas, while Meshal leads the group from abroad.

Why Does Israel Want to assassinate Them?

According to Cohen, Israel believes that getting rid of these leaders is important. He said that they won't let Haniyeh and Meshal die naturally, meaning they want to take action to remove them from power.

Replacing the Foreign Minister

Would the Minister Step Down? Cohen mentioned that the person who gets to decide if he stays or goes is the Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu. But he also said that Netanyahu hasn't talked to him about this issue yet. If the Prime Minister asks him to step down, Cohen said he would do it.

The Situation in Gaza

The situation in Gaza is really devastating, with a lot of people are being killed  by Israeli aggression and many buildings getting destroyed. It's a terrible situation for the people living there.
