The Gaza Strip has been devastated by the Israeli aggression, resulting in a tragic loss of lives. The toll has now risen to over 14,000 martyrs, with approximately 70% of them being children and women.
Loss of Lives
The head of the government media office in Gaza revealed that among the martyrs, more than 6,000 were children and 4,000 were women. Shockingly, this means that children and women make up the majority of the victims, accounting for about 70% of the total casualties since October 7th.
Medical personnel have also suffered greatly, with 205 martyrs including a doctor, a nurse, and a paramedic. Tragically, 25 civil defense crews and 64 journalists also lost their lives. The number of casualties has exceeded 35,000, with more than 75% of them being children and women.
Destruction of Infrastructure
The Israeli aggression has left a trail of destruction in Gaza. Government headquarters have been targeted, resulting in the destruction of 102 buildings. Additionally, 266 schools have been destroyed, with 67 of them completely out of service.
Mosques have also been heavily impacted, with 85 completely destroyed and 174 partially destroyed. Furthermore, 3 churches have been targeted.
Gaza's Devastating Losses
The extent of the damage in Gaza is truly heartbreaking. A staggering 45,000 housing units have been completely demolished, while 233,000 housing units have suffered partial demolition. The healthcare system has been severely affected, with 26 hospitals and 55 health centers out of service. The Israeli occupation has also targeted 56 ambulances, leaving many without access to emergency medical care due to fuel shortages.
Moreover, the people of Gaza are facing scarcity and a lack of basic food items. Markets and shops are struggling to provide essential supplies, and bakery operations have come to a complete halt. Hundreds of types of food are missing from the markets, exacerbating the already dire situation.
Call for Assistance
The government office in Gaza is urging Arab and Islamic countries to take immediate action. They are calling for efforts to open the Rafah crossing and to provide essential medical supplies to restart hospitals in the Gaza Strip.
Hope for a Humanitarian Truce
The Qatari Foreign Ministry has announced a humanitarian truce agreement between Israel and the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) in the Gaza Strip. The timing of its start will be announced within 24 hours, offering a glimmer of hope amidst the ongoing crisis.
