According to the head of the government media office in Gaza, a whopping 5,500 residential buildings have been completely destroyed by the Israeli bombings. Can you believe that? That's a lot of homes! And not just that, but there were 14,200 housing units inside those buildings. It's really sad to think about all the people who lost their homes.
Partial Damage
But wait, there's more. Around 133,370 housing units were partially damaged, meaning they were hurt but not completely destroyed. Out of those, 10,127 units were so badly damaged that they couldn't be lived in anymore. That's a lot of people who lost their safe places to live.
Other Targets
It's not just homes that were targeted. The Israeli bombings also hit 62 government headquarters and many public and service facilities. Even educational institutions were not spared. Around 160 schools were damaged, and 19 of them couldn't even be used anymore. It's really heartbreaking to see so many places that people rely on being destroyed.
Recent Attacks
Let's talk about some of the most recent attacks. One of the saddest things that happened was the destruction of the towers of Madinat al-Zahra and the bombing of the Greek Orthodox Church. These are important landmarks that hold a lot of meaning for the people of Gaza. It's really devastating to see them destroyed.
The Reason Behind the Bombings
Now, let's understand why all of this is happening. The bombings started on October 7 when the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) and other Palestinian factions in Gaza launched Operation "Al-Aqsa Flood." They did this in response to the attacks by Israeli forces and settlers against the Palestinian people, their property, and their holy places, especially the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem.
The Human Cost
It's important to remember that behind all these numbers and destruction, there are real people suffering. According to the Ministry of Health in Gaza, 4,137 people have lost their lives due to the bombings. Shockingly, 1,524 of them were children. Can you imagine the pain and sadness their families must be feeling? Additionally, around 13,000 people have been injured.
On the other side, the Israeli deaths have risen to more than 1,400, with 3,968 people injured and about 250 others captured.
Thousands of homes have been destroyed, important buildings have been damaged, and countless lives have been lost. Let's hope for peace and a better future for everyone involved.
