Since October 7, when Israel started its aggression, 16 journalists have been killed in the Gaza Strip. This aggression was a response to the Palestinian resistance's Operation "Al-Aqsa Flood," which was launched to protect their people and their holy places. The International Federation of Journalists shared this information with us.
Condemnation and Investigation
The International Federation of Journalists strongly condemned the repeated attacks on journalists by Israel. They called for an immediate investigation into these killings. It's important to find out the truth and hold those responsible accountable.
The Journalists We Lost
The brave journalists who lost their lives: Muhammad Ali, Khalil Abu Adha, Samih Al-Nadi, Issam Bahar, Muhammad Balousha, Abdul Hadi Habib, Hossam Mubarak, Ahmed Shehab, Muhammad Fayez Youssef Abu Matar, Saeed Al-Taweel, Muhammad Subuh, Hisham Al-Nawajah, Asaad Shamlikh, Muhammad Al-Salhi, Ibrahim Lafi, and Muhammad Jarghoun. We also have concerns about Haitham Abdel Wahed, a photojournalist, as we lost contact with him. Nidal Al-Wahidi's family informed the media that he was detained by the Israeli army after losing contact with him.
Staying Safe
The International Federation is urging journalists in the area to take precautions and wear professional safety equipment. It's crucial to prioritize their safety and not go into dangerous situations without proper gear.
Another Attack
On October 13, the Israeli occupation targeted journalists in southern Lebanon. They fired a missile at their car, resulting in the death of Reuters photographer Issam Abdullah and injuring three other journalists, including Al Jazeera correspondent Carmen Joukhadar. This incident shows how dangerous the situation can be for journalists.
It's heartbreaking to hear about journalists losing their lives while doing their important work. We must remember their bravery and continue to support the freedom of the press. Stay informed, stay safe, and always remember the power of journalism!
