When the war stops, and the dust of battles settles, amidst the noise of missiles, drones, tanks, and artillery, one finds themselves confronted with scenes that perhaps they did not focus on during the days of war, including the devastation surrounding all areas!
The Gaza War and Its Victims
The Gaza War, which lasted for 470 days, saw Israel utilize the majority of the weapons at its disposal, and it aggressively attempted to flatten the Gaza Strip to the ground, because it hates to see any Palestinian breathing the air and walking on the land, and it even despises the homes, possessions, farms, and businesses of the Palestinians!
Two days after the war stopped, the Gaza Strip's government media office announced that over 61,000 people fell victim to the "Israeli" extermination war in the strip. The office clarified that among the martyrs, 47,487 reached the hospitals, while 14,222 remained missing under the rubble or on the roads, including around 30,000 children and women! The number of injured reached 111,588.
The office provided detailed statistics regarding the numbers of martyrs, injured, missing persons, destroyed homes, demolished hospitals, the number of mass atrocities, and the number of families that were erased from the civil registry, exceeding 2,000 families. The families where both parents and all family members were killed totaled about 6,000 families, while 4,889 families were completely annihilated, with only one person remaining from each!
Reconstructing Gaza
Apart from these staggering numbers, we attempt to focus on the topic of reconstructing Gaza after the war, where Israel destroyed 216 government offices, 494 schools and universities, 981 mosques, in whole or in part, and also destroyed 3 churches and 19 cemeteries, either completely or partially!
The occupation destroyed 355,600 housing units entirely or partially, leaving 82,000 housing units unfit for habitation!
The occupation burned 34 hospitals and 80 health centers, destroyed 206 archaeological and heritage sites, and sabotaged electricity networks, water wells, water networks, sewage systems, and sports facilities!
The destruction rate in Gaza reached 88%, due to the dropping of 100,000 tons of explosives, and the initial direct losses from the genocide war were estimated at more than 38 billion dollars!
Thus, we are confronted with calculated "Israeli" assassination crimes, supported by certain Western countries and others, against an entire people and all essential means of life!
The Depth of Hatred and the Need for Reconstruction
These statistics confirm the depth of the "Israeli" hatred towards Palestine and its people. Therefore, the reconstruction of the devastation that affected 88% of Gaza requires significant efforts and substantial funds, particularly from Arab countries and peoples!
Before the construction plans commence, it is essential to provide mobile homes or tents and other necessities for life, as well as to remove approximately 37 million tons of rubble until reconstruction operations begin!
According to the first phase of the ceasefire agreement, at least 60,000 temporary housing units and 200,000 tents are to be built.
Subsequently, a carefully crafted reconstruction plan for Gaza is expected to be developed, encompassing infrastructure and all aspects of humanitarian necessities, specifically hospitals, bakeries, schools, and other essentials of life!
Urban Planning and Workforce Utilization
The urban planning plan should include the arrangement of public roads, sources of potable water for drinking and household use, and the repair of sewage networks before beginning to rebuild destroyed buildings and residences!
It is essential not to overlook the plan for the restoration of hospitals and health centers, historical sites, mosques, and scientific and cultural landmarks, as well as universities, schools, and even kindergartens!
Here, it is important not to disregard the necessity of utilizing the available workforce in the sector and not entirely opening up space for foreign labor, in order to revive all means of life in Gaza!
Cost and Duration of Reconstruction
According to United Nations estimates, the total cost of rebuilding what has been destroyed by the war is about 40 billion US dollars!
Thus, the Gaza reconstruction plan will take between 3 to 5 years, which is not a long time if the aforementioned necessities are provided!
The Urgency of Support
To confirm the complete destruction in Gaza, Stephen L. Witkoff, the U.S. President Donald Trump's envoy to the Middle East, stated on January 30, 2025, at the end of a visit to the region: Almost nothing remains of the Gaza Strip, and it may take 10 to 15 years to rebuild it.
With this Zionist destruction, Gaza awaits more support and generosity to rebuild and restore life to it!
