Recently, French President Emmanuel Macron, who is known for supporting Israel, issued a warning to Israel about its plan to completely eliminate Hamas. He expressed his concern that if Israel continues with this goal, it could lead to a war lasting for ten years!
Clarifying the Goal
During a press conference in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, Macron questioned whether it was even possible to completely eliminate Hamas. He asked if anyone truly believed this was achievable. Macron then cautioned that if Israel attempted to do so, the war could drag on for a very long time.
Confronting So-Called Terrorism
The French President also shared his thoughts on how to deal with what is often referred to as terrorism. He emphasized that it should not be solely about bombing and destroying everything. Macron believed that the response to Hamas attacks should not harm innocent civilians or destroy their homes and infrastructure. He advocated for finding a better way to handle the situation.
The Security of Israel and the Lives of Palestinians
Macron stressed that Israel's security should not come at the expense of Palestinian lives. He believed it was crucial to find a solution that respected the aspirations of both Israelis and Palestinians. Macron called for a two-state solution, where the two countries could peacefully coexist side by side.
Efforts for Peace
Macron called for increased efforts to achieve a permanent ceasefire in Gaza. He also highlighted the importance of releasing all Hamas detainees and providing aid to Gaza. To contribute to a new truce, Macron announced his plans to visit Qatar, a Middle Eastern country, to work on a ceasefire agreement.
Macron's Position
It is important to note that Macron, who has shown bias against Arab and Muslim issues in the past, expressed his support for Israel's war on Gaza. He also called for the formation of an international coalition against Hamas. However, he clarified that he never accused Israel of intentionally harming civilians during a phone call with the Israeli president.
