Phase Three of Prisoner Exchange Completed
On the 51st day of the Israeli war on Gaza, Israel and the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, finished the third phase of exchanging prisoners and detainees. The Al-Qassam Brigades handed over 13 Israeli detainees, 3 Thai detainees, and a Russian detainee to the Red Cross.
Release of Palestinian Prisoners
Shortly after the Al-Qassam Brigades released the third batch of detainees, the Israeli Prison Administration Authority announced the release of 39 Palestinian prisoners, all of whom were children.
International Efforts for Truce Extension
Efforts to extend the temporary truce, which ends tomorrow, continued. The Israeli President stated that they would extend the truce if Hamas released more detainees. The Emir of Qatar thanked the Egyptian President for his efforts to achieve the truce in Gaza. Negotiators hope to extend the truce by four days, according to the Wall Street Journal.
