The Palestinian military operation “Al-Aqsa Flood,” launched by the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) and its military wing, the “Al-Qassam Brigades,” on October 7, 2023, affirms the unity of the Egyptian-Palestinian struggle against Zionist aggression. The strategic and military expert and advisor at the Military Academy for Advanced Studies and Strategy in Egypt, Major General Hamdi Bakhit, said in his interview with “Al-Mujtama” that the “Al-Aqsa Flood” operation is drawing inspiration from the October 6, 1973, victory. The mujahideen chose Saturday, October 7, to make use of the state of relaxation and the horror anniversary the Zionist occupier is experiencing due to the 1973 war.
Major General Bakhit adds that the element of surprise was crucial to the resistance's attack. Their forces moved out of the Gaza Strip, abducted a large number of prisoners, and attacked more than 70 vital targets, including police and military units and settlements. This demonstrates meticulous planning and preparation for the day and time.
