Turkey is speaking out against the recent Quran burnings in Denmark. The Turkish Foreign Ministry released a statement condemning the attacks, which included one in front of the Turkish embassy on July 25. The ministry expressed its strong disapproval of the Danish authorities' failure to address these incidents and protect the Quran.
Offending Muslims and Harming Peace
These attacks not only hurt the feelings of billions of Muslims but also disrupt social harmony and coexistence. Turkey emphasized the importance of maintaining social peace and called on Danish authorities to take action to prevent such hate crimes from happening again.
Far-Right Islamophobic Group
A far-right Islamophobic group called the Danske Patrioter was responsible for burning copies of the Quran outside the Turkish, Egyptian, and Iraqi embassies in Copenhagen. This is not the first time such incidents have occurred, as there have been repeated acts of Quran burning or desecration in northern European and Nordic countries.
Global Outrage
Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed deep anguish over the desecration of the Holy Quran in front of the Iraqi Embassy in Denmark. He condemned the attacks as abominable and Satanic, stating that they aim to promote religious hatred and Islamophobia. Sharif called on governments and faith leaders to put an end to these practices and not let a few misguided individuals dictate their nefarious agenda.
Violation of International Law
Saudi Arabia also criticized the recent attacks on the Quran. The Saudi Cabinet condemned these disgraceful actions, stating that they go against international efforts to promote tolerance and reject hatred. Desecrating the Muslim holy book is a clear violation of laws and customs, and Saudi Arabia strongly condemns these acts.
