What is Havana Syndrome, also known as Cuba Syndrome? A mysterious set of symptoms overtook the American and Canadian diplomats in Cuba and China, starting in 2016. The scare caused headaches, dizziness, problems in concentration, hearing loss, etc.—though not said today what exactly it would be. Directed energy weapons, on the judgment of many experts, seem to be the culprit.
Directed-energy Weapons
Directed-energy weapons are a class of weapons that rely on the principal of energy emission to assault a target. The weaponry can take the form of lasers, microwaves, and sonic weapons among others. Theoretically, such weapons can be able to cause hurt to an individual without necessarily causing signs of physical injury which might be the explanation of the conditions of the people experiencing the Havana Syndrome. While the very notion of using these directed energy weapons in such a way sounds like it comes right from a strand of science fiction, indications exist that some countries are already doing just that.
Mystery Illness
So far, one of the top theories into the mystery illness that potentially underlies Havana Syndrome points at a sonic weapon. Sonic weapons or devices send out sound waves to a target to cause damage or incapacitate them. There have been reports of a relative with high-frequency sounds in people who have exhibited signs or symptoms similar to those thought to be linked to Havana Syndrome. Other experts believe microwave weapons could also potentially explain the illness of the diplomats who were posted in Cuba and China. Types of symptoms from the microwave weapons include headaches, dizziness, and mental challenge issues, which the inflicted have reported, amounting to, effectively, Havana Syndrome.
Other countries have been reported to have turned around and used directed energy weapons on American diplomats. The alarms went crazy in 2017 when US officers in Cuba reported symptoms that aligned with those of the Havana Syndrome, indicating even more that they may have been targeted with a directed energy weapon. Finally, in 2018, a US diplomat based in China began showing similar symptoms to the Havana Syndrome, which added some more fuel to the fire of suspicion around being targeted by directed energy weapons.
Havana Syndrome
While mounting evidence still points to directed energy weapons in the cases of Havana Syndrome, many questions remain: who could be behind the attacks, and what might their motivations be? Moreover, there are some disputes within the scientific community about whether directed energy weapons can cause the symptoms people experience. Other researchers have gone to the extent of suggesting that these symptoms are the result of a combination of psychological and physiological factors and not necessarily from any sort of physical attack.
At present, the actual relationship between Havana Syndrome and directed energy weapons cannot be outlined. Further studies are required to point out the weapon applied and the entity responsible for the attacks. Further, how Directed Energy Weapons can cause the symptoms of Havana Syndrome can contribute to better treatments for the illness.
There is a convoluted relationship between Havana Syndrome and directed energy weapons. Although the exact causative agent of the illnesses has not yet been determined, the incidence of the use of directed energy weapons draws one toward this conclusion. Further research may eventually bring to light the truth regarding this issue and reveal the answers to many questions arising from the enigma that is Havana Syndrome.
