Reunion with Family
After being released from an Israeli prison, Fatima Amarneh returned home to her family in the town of Yabad, southwest of Jenin. Her parents and relatives eagerly awaited her arrival, but they refrained from celebrating due to the recent loss of martyrs in Gaza. Fatima's mother cried tears of joy as she hugged her daughter, grateful for God's grace.
First Breakfast and Media Appearance
The next morning, Fatima enjoyed her first breakfast with her parents in over three months. She then prepared to speak to the media about her experience.
Arrest and Torture
Fatima described her arrest, stating that she was initially assaulted by an Israeli soldier in the Old City of Jerusalem. The soldier kicked her in the head and beat her severely. Other people gathered around, and the occupation soldiers dragged her away for arrest. From the moment of her arrest, Fatima endured torture, beatings, and threats. She was strangled in the police car, and the soldiers continuously beat her until she reached the investigation center.
Interrogation Conditions
During her interrogation, Fatima faced severe beatings and threats. The investigator even tried to remove her clothes, threatening to arrest her family if she resisted. Fatima's parents, being elderly, were particularly vulnerable to this threat.
Difficult Prison Conditions
Fatima explained that female prisoners faced extremely difficult conditions in the overcrowded prison. After the aggression on Gaza, the number of female prisoners and minors increased. The prison rooms were packed beyond capacity, with officials intentionally placing more prisoners than the rooms could accommodate. The prisoners were subjected to abuse, pepper gas attacks, reduced food quantities, and limited access to the outdoors.
Emotional Reunion
Sheikh Nasr Amarneh, Fatima's father, struggled to hold back tears as he reunited with his daughter. Throughout her detention, he had been anxious and sleep-deprived. However, he couldn't fully celebrate her release due to the ongoing suffering in Gaza. Sheikh Amarneh expressed his pain for the people of Gaza and the West Bank, who continue to face oppression and violence.
Accusations and Release
Fatima was arrested in Jerusalem on accusations of attempting to stab an Israeli soldier. However, no ruling was issued against her during her three-month detention. She was eventually released as part of a prisoner exchange deal between Hamas and Israel.
