Human Rights Organizations Speak Out

Some organizations that care about the well-being of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli prisons have accused Israel of mistreating them. They say that the situation has gotten even worse after a recent conflict between the Palestinians and the Israeli occupation on October 7th.

Systematic Abuse and Crimes

In a joint statement, the Prisoners' Affairs Commission, the Palestinian Prisoners' Club, and the Addameer Foundation for Human Rights expressed their concern about the systematic abuse of Palestinian prisoners by the Israeli prison administration. They believe that this mistreatment is part of a larger plan to harm and even kill some of the prisoners. They see it as a way for Israel to continue its aggression against the Palestinian people and carry out a genocide in the Gaza Strip.

Prisoners' Lives Lost

Since October 7th, two prisoners have died in Israeli prisons as a result of torture. This is very alarming and shows the severity of the situation.

Obstructing Visits and Assaults

The prison administration has been making it difficult for lawyers to visit the prisoners. Despite the efforts of organizations concerned with prisoner affairs, the visits have been limited and challenging. The prison administration has even assaulted and abused prisoners who were going to meet their lawyers or attend court hearings. This has resulted in many prisoners getting hurt from severe beatings.

Starvation Policy and Continuous Attacks

The Israeli authorities have been accused of implementing a starvation policy against the prisoners. Additionally, the prisoners face constant attacks during raids on their cells. These attacks happen day and night and are becoming more dangerous.

Silence of International Human Rights Institutions

The organizations are disappointed with the silence of international human rights institutions regarding the violations committed by Israel against the prisoners. They believe that this silence only encourages Israel to continue its mistreatment of the prisoners.

Massive Arrest Campaign

Since the beginning of Operation Al-Aqsa Flood, Israel has launched a massive arrest campaign in the West Bank. They have targeted 1,555 Palestinians. This campaign is happening at the same time as the war on the Gaza Strip.
