As I disembarked from the plane, I glanced around the seats, noticing food remnants strewn on the chairs or the plane floor, blankets carelessly tossed here and there, or empty drink cans that I needed to push aside with my foot to pass through. This made me wonder: how can a person travel from one country to another, soaring through the sky on the most sophisticated and expensive means, yet lack the basic principles of manners and etiquette?
Manners and etiquette are noble human qualities that cannot be bought or sold; rather, they are shaped through upbringing and the values instilled in an individual from a young age.
Manners are the refined behavior a person displays in dealing with others, reflecting their respect for themselves first and for the environment and society around them second. Etiquette, on the other hand, is the gentle touch in actions and words that adds beauty to human interactions, making a person loved and appreciated.
Manners and etiquette cannot be acquired through wealth or external appearances; they are deeply rooted values that emerge from good upbringing and life experiences.
Anyone can be wealthy in terms of money and social status, but if they lack manners and etiquette, their wealth will not earn them the respect or love of others. Conversely, an individual may have modest means, yet through their refined character, they garner the respect of everyone around them.
In life, manners and etiquette are what keep human relationships strong and harmonious, enabling a person to interact with different social classes and ages with understanding and respect.
In an era where material values have become dominant, manners and etiquette remain the true treasures that bring a person lasting happiness and a respectable place in the hearts of others. Therefore, manners and etiquette do not stem from material or social status; they are a reflection of one's morals and values that manifest in all their interactions.
