Islam is the source of security and peace, and Islam is the only and last hope for humanity that peace will prevail throughout the world. All the calamities and disasters that occur in the world, both past and present, stem from one reason: the removal of Islam from organizing all aspects of life in the world.
The truth is that there is no such thing as Islamic terrorism, and the evidence for this is plentiful. Among them:
1. A study conducted by the University of Michigan on the number of deaths in the 20th century found that there were 102 million deaths. The surprise was that Muslims were responsible for 2% of them, while non-Muslims were responsible for 98%. According to this study, Muslims are neither killers nor terrorists.
The truth is that Islam did not only forbid the killing of Muslims, but it also forbade the killing of any human being regardless of their religion, country, or era. Allah Almighty says: "Whoever kills a soul unless for a soul or for corruption [done] in the land - it is as if he had slain mankind entirely. And whoever saves one - it is as if he had saved mankind entirely." (Surah Al-Ma'idah :32). The Quran uses the word "soul" to ensure that the prohibition applies to every soul on Earth.
Furthermore, Islam forbade killing animals without benefit. In a hadith, the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Whoever kills a small bird for no reason, it will beseech Allah on the Day of Resurrection saying: 'O Lord, so and so killed me for no reason. And he did not kill me for any beneficial purpose.'" And the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Humankind is Allah’s construction; cursed is he who destroys Allah’s construction," indicating that life is the most valuable thing in existence, even the life of an animal.
Yet, the strange logic of the enemies of Islam is that if the killer is Muslim and kills one person, the crime is magnified and placed under the media spotlight globally. However, if the killer is non-Muslim and kills millions, the crime is treated by the media as trivial, like swatting a fly!
2. In a report from the United Nations Counter-Terrorism Committee, extremist groups (totaling 2,500 organizations) were categorized by geographical distribution. Europe had the largest number of ideologically or religiously motivated extremist groups, including right-wing, racist, and left-wing organizations, with Europe accounting for 52% of the total, at 1,300 organizations. Non-Islamic Asian countries came in second, with 450 organizations (18%), including Hindu, Buddhist, Confucian, and Sikh extremist groups, especially in India, China, Japan, Vietnam, and Burma. North and South America ranked third and fourth with 250 organizations each (10% for each continent).
Islamic countries ranked fifth with a total of 200 organizations (8%), while non-Islamic African countries ranked last with 100 organizations, accounting for 4% of the total number of religious and ideologically extremist organizations worldwide (Ahmed Al-Sayed Al-Naggar, Al-Ahram, Egypt, April 3, 2016).
The practical application of jihad in Islam is the greatest proof that Islam is a religion that preserves the lives of both enemies and allies. Muslims conquered Jerusalem in Rabi’ al-Awwal, 16 AH/April 637 CE without a single death. In contrast, the Crusaders occupied Jerusalem in 493 AH/1099 CE and slaughtered 70,000 Muslims, destroyed the city, and left no one alive.
Salah al-Din al-Ayyubi liberated Jerusalem and entered it in Rajab, 583 AH/October 1187 CE without spilling a single drop of blood. But when the Jews occupied it in 1347 AH/1967 CE, they committed massacres that continue to shock the conscience of humanity!
