It is not hidden from anyone with insight into the cultural regression that the State of Kuwait is experiencing at many levels, both in values and material aspects. The continuation of this regression makes us one of the failing countries that have failed in their efforts to achieve cultural advancement.
Historical Foundations
Since its inception, the Kuwaiti society has lived within civilizational foundations that have contributed, in one way or another, to its progress. These foundations were reinforced during the historical stages of Kuwaiti society through a series of positions, events, and systems, the most prominent of which is the Constitution of Kuwait. There is no escape from any new serious efforts to uplift Kuwaiti society without considering these essential foundations and working to achieve them at the level of awareness and application.
Islamic Law
Islamic law is considered a foundational and moral value system for Kuwaiti society, and it outlines its methodology and direction. From it, society seeks to achieve its goals in this world and the afterlife. Excluding it or weakening its role means losing the compass of direction and path and diminishing society's spirit and values. Strengthening this foundation according to the principle of authenticity and modernity can unleash tremendous societal energy aimed at creating a dignified and advanced life that aligns with its essence, authenticity, and civilizational values.
Consultation and Participation
The principle of consultation and participation in governance and finances through democratic mechanisms is a fundamental principle that the people have practiced throughout their historical stages. The constitution has solidified these mechanisms, thereby enhancing the renaissance of the people and the state. It makes Kuwaitis a crucial part of the equation of administration, construction, evaluation, and accountability. Weakening this principle undermines the foundation that transforms the state from the concept of the sovereignty of the nation to the sovereignty of certain influential individuals at the expense of the nation.
Arab Islamic Gulf Depth
The Arab Islamic Gulf depth is an important vital foundation that makes Kuwait a part of every national and Islamic dimension, enhancing its strength, supporting its positions and economy, and protecting it from the evils of isolation and fragmentation.
Openness to the Outside World
The foundation of openness to the outside world with its values, experiences, and culture has been practiced both practically and historically. Wisdom is the lost property of the believer; that wisdom which imports what is useful and positive civilly and scientifically, while standing as a strong barrier against the corrupt and the unfit.
Duties of the Kuwaiti People
One of the duties of the Kuwaiti people, both leaders and individuals, is to work on reinforcing these foundations at the level of deep understanding of their importance and the necessity of their integration and utilization in building a contemporary original citizen and an advanced, civilized state.
