Barely a few hours had passed since the announcement of Bashar al-Assad's regime's fall when the Zionist Minister of War, Israel Katz, announced the destruction and significant damage inflicted by his country on what he called the "Iranian arm" in Syria, Lebanon, and the Gaza Strip. This followed the confirmation by the newspaper "Ma'ariv" on December 11, 2024, that the occupying army had destroyed 80% of Syria's military capabilities, a figure that later increased to 90%.
The military capabilities that the Hebrew newspaper claimed posed a significant threat to its country prompted the Zionist army to destroy more Syrian strategic weapons, such as air defense systems and most of the naval forces. Consequently, most Hebrew media outlets acknowledged that the destruction of the Syrian army created a new reality, the first of its kind in the Middle East in over 60 years.
These media outlets boasted of the Zionist Air Force's complete and absolute air superiority over most areas of the Middle East, whether in Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, or Iran, claiming that the successive Zionist strikes on Syrian military weapons and capabilities represented the positive side of a new Middle East.
This is the East that the leadership of the Zionist entity, both politicians and military figures, and before them the Hebrew media, have been touting, even before the fall of Assad's regime, specifically with the assassination of Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah on September 27, 2024; at that time, the entity viewed the international community as being on the brink of a new Middle East.
It is clear that the Hebrew media's commentary on the estimated cost of rebuilding such Syrian military power being in the hundreds of billions of dollars and taking more than a decade to construct indicates a Zionist intention to bring Syria back to square one and remove it from the equation of Arab national security.
There is also a sense of mockery regarding the lack of regional and international intervention on behalf of the Syrian regime before its fall, whether by Iran, Russia, or behind them, North Korea, considered the closest and perhaps the only allies of the fallen Assad regime. Hebrew media have been rife with this, highlighting that these regimes, especially Iran, abandoned Bashar’s regime and left it to face its fate alone!
The strange thing is that the Iranian regime disavowed this matter when Hussein Salami, the commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, admitted on December 12, 2024, that "we were aware of the movements of armed groups and extremists in Syria in recent months, and we informed the military and political officials in Syria about that, but there was no will for change and war."
Israeli acknowledgment of occupying Syria
The situation regarding the new Middle East continues, as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu acknowledged that his country is changing the face of the Middle East and is destroying its enemies step by step, claiming that "there is an existential war imposed upon us," which is the same thing he repeated in Gaza and Lebanon before, multiple times.
However, we should not overlook Netanyahu's sending of a video message to the Iranian people, especially as this is his third message in recent months, in which he claimed in Persian that "Israel wants peace with you, Israel seeks peace with the Iranians, and I know that you, in return, want peace with Israel," adding that the officials in Tehran have spent more than $30 billion to support Bashar al-Assad in Syria, a regime that crumbled to dust within just 11 days of fighting, as if he were inciting the Iranian people against their leadership, all in an attempt to stir up unrest within Iran as well.
Israeli journalists have continued to publish their field reports inside Syrian territory, especially in the heart of the buffer zone, after boasting about the fall of the Assad regime, claiming that they are more optimistic about a new future for their country with Syria, a future acknowledged by a Zionist military leader who raised the flag of the Zionist entity in that area, claiming that "Israel" plans to remain in the buffer zone with Syria as long as there is no recognized legitimate state in Damascus!
For its part, the Hebrew newspaper "Yedioth Ahronoth" conducted an interview with the military leader—whose name was not mentioned—in which he emphasized that "Israeli" forces will remain in this area so that organizations he described as "terrorist" do not come and take control of it, and that "Israel" does not intend to have any other borders with "terrorists," as he put it.
Netanyahu also acknowledged this when he announced in Hebrew that what happened concerning the deepening of his military forces in Syria is "occupation," while describing it in English as a "temporary presence" in another comment, confirming the collapse of the "disengagement agreement" signed with Syria in 1974, allowing "Israel" to expand its occupation of the Golan Heights by annexing the buffer zone, at a time when the newspaper "Yedioth Ahronoth" acknowledged that the international forces overseeing that international agreement, UNDOF, have surrendered to the reality in that area and left it to "Israel."
Katz followed up on these statements, adding that he instructed his military forces in Syria to prepare to remain at the top of Mount Sheikh in the demilitarized zone with Syria during the winter, claiming that the presence of the Israeli army at the summit of Mount Sheikh is of utmost security importance for the entity, a presence that requires internal approval to remain comfortably!
Historic Opportunity
The request for urgent assistance from the Druze and Kurds in Syria to the Israeli entity, according to the Hebrew newspaper "Israel Hayom" on December 12, 2024, indicates a deepening and entrenchment of the Israeli presence in the heart of Syria, transforming the country into minorities, ethnicities, and sects, which will later become states controlled by "Tel Aviv." However, the same newspaper noted that the Israeli assistance to these sects would face Turkish objections, despite affirming previous dialogues and communication between "Tel Aviv" and the Syrian Kurds, which has become much stronger after the fall of the Assad regime.
The Hebrew newspaper did not stop there; it highlighted the role of Foreign Minister Gidon Saar in the diplomatic track between the Israeli entity and both the Kurds and Druze in Syria, raising the issue in meetings with his European and American counterparts, as he seeks the goodwill of these minorities and sects, confirming that the Kurdish request represents a historic opportunity that "Israel" must exploit.
In order for these forces to remain in Syria, there is also a need for religious significance and approval from the rabbis. Thus, on December 13, 2024, a video emerged showing Jewish rabbis performing Talmudic prayers with their children from within Syrian territories where the occupation army has penetrated. One of them announced the establishment of the first house for the "Chabad" extremist religious movement in Syria, signifying the intention of the perpetual Israeli presence in the Syrian lands with pure religious symbolism. This movement recently opened a branch or house in the Gaza Strip in the past few months.
From this, the current scene in Syria means that the world is facing a new Middle East, especially since the overthrow of Assad came immediately after calming the fronts in Lebanon and the Gaza Strip, in which the Israeli entity dominates affairs on more than one front.
