So, this newspaper called Declassified UK did some research on the military and intelligence work of different countries. They found out that the British Air Force flew 50 reconnaissance sorties over Gaza. But what are reconnaissance sorties? Well, it means that they sent planes to fly over Gaza and gather information for Israel.
What is Declassified UK?
Declassified UK is a newspaper that investigates and reports on military and intelligence activities. They like to find out what different countries are doing and share that information with the public.
Where Did the Planes Come From?
The planes took off from a British air base called Akrotiri. This base is located south of the Greek Cypriot administration. From there, the planes flew over to Gaza to do their job.
What Planes Did They Use?
The British Army used a type of aircraft called Shadow R1 for these reconnaissance sorties. These planes are specially designed for gathering information and keeping an eye on things.
When Did It Start?
The first British air sorties over Gaza started on December 3. They continued doing these flights, and on January 3, they did three sorties in one day. Each of these flights lasted for about 6 hours.
Why Did They Do It?
The British Ministry of Defense said that they were doing these reconnaissance flights to help Israel with something important. They wanted to gather intelligence information to support the process of rescuing prisoners in Gaza.
What Else Did Declassified UK Report?
Before this, Declassified UK also reported that American and British military planes flew from the Akrotiri base to help Israel. They did 33 flights between this base and Tel Aviv. Some of these flights even carried cargo!
