According to the newspaper Le Parisien, the Israeli army has made some big moves and now they're focusing on the rest of the Gaza Strip.
The End of a Major Chapter
The Israeli army recently announced that they have taken control of the northern third of the Gaza Strip. This is a big deal because it means they have removed all threats from that area. The war has been going on for four months now, and the Israeli army says they have finished dismantling the military structure of Hamas in the northern Gaza Strip. Unfortunately, this has caused a lot of damage and displaced many people, leading to a humanitarian crisis.
Remaining Areas
Even though the Israeli army has taken control of most of the Gaza Strip, there are still some areas in the north that they don't control. These areas make up about 15% of the Gaza Strip, but they are still within firing range. The Israeli army believes that Hamas won't risk attacking them because they are no longer a threat. To make sure nobody enters these areas, the Israeli army will create a buffer zone and keep a small force there.
Focus on the Center and South
Now that the Israeli army has control over the northern part of the Gaza Strip, they will shift their focus to the center and south of the region. The Israeli Defense Minister has confirmed that they will begin the third phase of the war in these areas. Instead of large-scale operations, they will use more targeted attacks to combat terrorism.
Reduced Combat Intensity
In this third phase, the goal is to reduce the number of casualties on both sides and provide humanitarian aid. The US Secretary of State has called for less lethal operations and the protection of Palestinian civilians. The hope is to demobilize part of the Israeli army and decrease the number of bombings. However, experts believe that this transition will take a few more weeks.
