On the 119th day of the war on Gaza, there were ongoing clashes between the Israeli military and the Palestinian resistance. Meanwhile, there were also important developments in the regional arena related to the war.
Ceasefire Negotiations
There were ongoing discussions for a ceasefire and the exchange of prisoners and detainees between Hamas and Israel. However, there were disagreements among Israeli leaders regarding this agreement. Additionally, the US Secretary of State, Anthony Blinken, planned to visit Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Qatar, Israel, and the West Bank from 4 to 8 February.
Humanitarian Impact
The Ministry of Health in Gaza reported that the number of casualties from the Israeli aggression had risen to 27,131, with 66,287 wounded since the start of the war. The ministry also stated that within 24 hours, the Israeli occupation forces committed 13 massacres, resulting in the death of 112 people and injuring 148.
Resistance Operations
The military wings of Hamas and the Islamic Jihad Movement announced their successful operations against Israeli forces. They reported killing 15 Israeli soldiers and targeting tanks and troop carriers.
West Bank
In the West Bank, the Israeli occupation forces continued their escalation. They set up military checkpoints at the entrances to the Old City of Jerusalem, preventing many worshipers from reaching Al-Aqsa Mosque. The occupation forces also conducted raids and arrest campaigns in various cities and towns. Despite these restrictions, 13,000 Palestinians were able to reach Al-Aqsa Mosque and perform prayers there. At least 25 Palestinians, including a woman, a wounded man, and children, were arrested, bringing the total number of detainees from the West Bank to 6,485 since October 7, 2023.
Lebanese Front
There were exchanges of bombardment between Hezbollah and the Israeli occupation army along the southern border of Lebanon. Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant refused to link the end of the war in Gaza to an end to the escalation on the northern front with Hezbollah.
Raids on Syria
Unknown aircraft launched raids near the cities of Al-Mayadeen and Al-Bukamal in eastern Syria. These strikes were reportedly in response to an attack on a Jordanian base that resulted in the death of three American soldiers. Iran reported that a Revolutionary Guard advisor was killed by an Israeli strike in Damascus.
Jordan: 4 Israelis Arrested
Jordanian border guard forces arrested four Israelis, including soldiers, after they mistakenly crossed the border fence. They were returned safely.
Bombing from and on Yemen
The Israeli army intercepted a ballistic missile launched from Yemen over the Red Sea. The missile was on its way to Israel but was shot down before reaching its target. In a separate incident, the Houthi group claimed that the United States and Britain carried out an attack in Hajjah Governorate, northwest of Yemen.
Revealing Spies for Mossad
Iranian intelligence uncovered dozens of spies in 28 countries linked to the Israeli intelligence service Mossad. Turkish authorities also arrested seven people on suspicion of selling information to the Mossad.
