The Horrors They Faced

Imagine weeping, wailing, and trembling in fear. That's what these Sudanese refugees experienced as they shared their stories of killing, destruction, humiliation, plunder, and atrocities. They had to flee their own country and seek refuge in Chad because of the terrible things happening back home.

Targeted for Ethnic Cleansing

Most of these refugees believe they were targeted for ethnic cleansing. They say that being part of the African Masalit tribe or being black Negroes made them vulnerable. They blame the Rapid Support Forces for these terrible acts.

Abdul's Heartbreaking Story

Abdul Latif Abdullah Yaqoub, a 32-year-old refugee, shared his tragic experience. He described how his house was attacked by the Rapid Support Forces on May 15, 2023. They killed his father and brother and shot him in the leg for no reason. He was left bleeding in the house, surrounded by the bodies of his loved ones.

Muhammad's Loss

Muhammad Qamar Abkar, 46 years old, lost his wife and three children in a surprise attack. They were killed, and their bodies were left lying on the ground. The attackers took everything they owned, including gold, cars, and money. They even shot the donkeys!

Mustafa's Amputation

Mustafa Taher, an 18-year-old from El Geneina, had his leg amputated after being targeted by the Rapid Support Forces. He was chased and later found himself in the Turkish Hospital in Nyala. His mother, Daria Boukni, spoke about the attack and the loss of her daughter.

Torture and Violence

Abdullah Yaqoub Ismail shared his harrowing experience of being detained for three days. He was subjected to various types of torture, including being beaten and tied up with ropes. Retired police captain Ibrahim Ishaq Jumaa, 65 years old, talked about how he was slapped and witnessed the killing of his cousin.

Nadia's Trapped in the Fire

Nadia Abkar Al-Senussi, 30 years old, survived a missile hitting her house. She suffered burns on her hands and feet and remained trapped in the fire for 40 minutes. She witnessed the killing of eight people and the injury of many others during a Rapid Support Forces attack on a displaced camp.

The Janjaweed and Ethnic Cleansing

Nadia emphasized that her family had endured 20 years of violence with the Janjaweed. They lost many family members in attacks over the years. The European Union confirmed that over 1,000 members of the Masalit tribe were killed in the Ardamta Massacre. The EU believes this is part of a broader ethnic cleansing campaign by the Rapid Support Forces.
