Urgent Need for Fuel

Gaza is facing a serious fuel shortage, and the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) has described the situation as tragic. Assem Al-Nabih, a member of the Emergency Committee in the Gaza Municipality, has demanded immediate action to bring fuel into the city. Basic services like water and fuel are currently unavailable, and it is crucial to address this issue urgently.

Insufficient Aid

Even though trucks carrying humanitarian aid and fuel have been allowed during the temporary truce, they are not meeting the needs of Gaza's population, which exceeds two million people. The situation is dire, and the current aid efforts are falling short.

Relief Organizations on the Way

A United Nations official, who recently joined a humanitarian aid convoy heading to northern Gaza, stated that relief organizations are on their way to deliver the largest aid shipment in over a month. The residents of Gaza are suffering from exhaustion and severe thirst, and this aid is desperately needed.

Fears of Disease and Drought

Before the start of the 4-day humanitarian truce, United Nations agencies expressed concerns about the spread of diseases and drought in the northern Gaza Strip. The area has been cut off from foreign aid for weeks due to a stifling siege by Israel.

Desperation and Danger

James Elder, a representative from the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), witnessed the dire situation in Gaza firsthand. He described the desperation in people's eyes, noting that adults were not eating and children had become thinner. Many Gazans were even fleeing south in fear of renewed Israeli bombings if the truce was not extended.

Aid Reaching Gaza

The Palestinian Red Crescent Society announced the entry of 100 aid trucks containing food, water, formula, and blankets into Gaza and the northern governorates. This aid has reached thousands of citizens who are in desperate need of the most basic necessities of life.
