An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.1 was recorded off the coast of Japan’s Aomori prefecture, the Japan Meteorological Agency announced early Monday.

The agency said the event took place at a depth of 70 kilometers (43.5 miles).

No tsunami warning was issued./aa
