Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan recently shared his government's plan to boost daily oil production at the Ghabar well in Şırnak, southeast of Turkey. The goal is to reach an impressive 100,000 barrels per day by the end of 2024.

Energy Independence

President Erdogan emphasized the importance of achieving complete energy independence for Turkey. He assured the public that decisive steps were being taken to ensure energy security in the country.

Increase in Oil Production

Currently, the Ghabar well produces around 35,000 barrels of oil per day. However, President Erdogan aims to triple this amount and reach the target of 100,000 barrels per day by the end of 2024.

Free Natural Gas

President Erdogan also announced that he will continue providing 25 cubic meters of natural gas to families for free until April of next year. This initiative aims to support households and ensure their access to this essential resource.

Future Prospects

President Erdogan expressed his optimism about upcoming developments in the oil, mines, and natural gas sectors. He promised to share good news in the near future, emphasizing that Turkey will never again be prevented from utilizing its underground and surface resources.

Oil Reserves Discovery

In December 2022, President Erdogan announced the discovery of a new oil field in Mount Ghabar, containing an estimated 150 million barrels of oil reserves. This discovery further strengthens Turkey's potential as an energy producer.
