The darling of hearts, the maker of smiles, the man of public relations, the professional photographer, and the owner of the famous du'a when someone calls him "Abu Mahna" and he replies, "May you be in Paradise."
He was, may Allah have mercy on him, an artist in the craft of creating smiles; when he meets you, he smiles, when he talks to you, he smiles, when he takes your picture, he tells you to smile. His whole life, in short, was all about "smiling"; that is why he owned people's hearts. He is Hamed Mahna Mohammad Al-Muzail.
Upbringing and birth
He was born in 1954 in the Sharq area, then moved to Kaifan, studied in its schools, worked in the municipality, then in the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, and finally in the Zakat House.
Key Qualities
- Patience:
He was rarely angry, and even if he got angry, he quickly became content. His noble wife says: I never saw him angry with me in the thirty years of our marriage. He never raised his voice at me. If someone angered him while he was driving, he would stop, greet them, smile at them, then calmly advise them.
- Humility:
Humility was one of his most prominent qualities after his smile. He was humble in his food, clothing, and even his transportation. His children never heard him complain about a meal, even hospital food that most people dislike; he would eat it and say it was delicious, inviting others to share it with him. He would dress like the workers he was with during photography sessions, so as not to embarrass them with his Kuwaiti attire. When he dropped his daughters off at school, he would greet the school guard, buy breakfast and eat it with them in his room.
- Contemplation of God's creation:
He was often contemplative, marveling at plants, animals, and insects, amazed by Allah's creativity. While contemplating, he enjoyed worship, and when giving photography lessons and commenting on his nature shots, he would talk about the beauty of God's creation, making you feel the interaction with the image and the impact of God's great creation.
- His way of raising his daughters:
He spent a lot of time with his daughters, insisting on taking them to school himself and refusing anyone else to do the task. He made sure to have lunch and dinner with them, and at night he would put them to bed, sitting by their heads until they fell asleep. What kind of father are you, Abu Mahna? How many people embody this quality in life?
He would take them with him in the car, knowing the importance of closeness and companionship, and he devoted a lot of time to helping his daughters memorize the Quran, sometimes through recordings and sometimes through follow-ups.
