The river of life flows every moment with new souls, welcoming life and beginning a journey whose end is known only to Allah. In moments, life sprouts for us a fresh branch with good and blessed roots, and in the same moments, buds of sprouting fruits are plucked. We witness souls whose stars have set, and their time is fulfilled, departing from our world to meet the Hereafter, beginning their eternal journey. These are souls that made their worldly life a glory for their afterlife, a provision for their journey to reach the Hereafter.
The young man Abdulhadi Abdullah Amer Al-Ajmi was raised in the worship of Allah; he embodied the morals of the Qur'an, lived by the Qur'an, and died while listening to the Qur'an.
His Attributes
Abdulhadi reached the age of sixteen, but he had the wisdom, awareness, understanding, and faith of a sixty-year-old. He was dutiful to his parents, kind to them and to all who dealt with him. He adhered to virtue and noble character and was committed to the obligations of Sharia. He was a crown jewel in the forehead of his family, despite his youth and early age.
He was a candle lighting the darkness among his brothers, a guiding star for confused youth with his conduct, and a cool breeze in the midst of intense heat. His heart was filled with love for Allah and His Messenger and a passion for religious knowledge. In addition to being in the third year of secondary scientific studies, he was known among his peers for his good manners, hard work, and sincerity. He, along with his friends, represented a conscious generation carrying the concern for Dawah and working to build the nation, with the mosque as his home.
His Role in Dawah
He would raise the call to prayer (adhan) and wake up both the young and the old for the dawn prayer. He sought out gatherings of knowledge wherever they were. He filled his short life with much work, diligence, and the pursuit of knowledge until the time of his death and departure from this world.
How heavy is it for the young man to gather provisions in his brief life for his afterlife? He performed Umrah, went to free himself from the chains and fetters of this world, and went to cleanse his soul, heart, and eyes with the water of Zamzam to purify himself and meet the Lord of the Worlds in the best form. The young man returned from Umrah light in spirit, his face radiant, as if he had smelled the breeze of Paradise and its fragrance.
His Death
On Friday, the 22nd of Muharram, 1407 AH / 26th September 1986, Abdulhadi headed to the mosque and raised the first adhan for the prayer. A friend of his came and invited him to go pray with the great sheikh Ahmad Al-Qattan. He went with him, as if he had an appointment, for the time of departure had come. Only minutes passed as they rode in the car when his friend turned to Abdulhadi, playfully asking him about the secret behind the light shining on his face!
Abdulhadi smiled and asked his friend to play a Qur'an tape for them to listen to on the way. Moments later, the voice of the Qur'an reader filled the air, but the steering wheel slipped from his friend's hand, and a tragic accident occurred. The light of life was extinguished from Abdulhadi, but the light of faith never faded from his face. Though death took him, he remains alive in the hearts of many family members, friends, and scholars.
