Confidence in Allah’s victory and complete certainty in Allah’s support, aid, and assistance are traits of the believers and signs of the pious. Certainty is one of the most important attributes of the believing mujahideen during times of crisis, when calamities befall, and when falsehood prevails.
As believers, we do not doubt for a moment that we are under Allah's watchful eye and protection, even if calamities, disasters, and misfortunes surround us. It is enough for us to hear our Lord’s saying, “And be patient [O Muhammad], for the decision of your Lord, for indeed, you are in Our eyes.” (At-Tur: 48)
Imagine the confidence in victory if America, Europe, Russia, and China declared their unanimous support for us, continued to provide us aid, and stood behind us, sacrificing everything for us. Would anyone doubt that we would be the victorious group?
This is merely support from weak creatures, so how about if the Creator tells us: You are under Allah's watchful eye and protection. Allah is your protector, Allah is with you, and Allah is your helper. Allah has told us this in more than one ayah and promised us victory, honor, and empowerment. Every believer should be certain that victory is our ally, and triumph is ours; “And they say, 'When is that?' Say, 'Perhaps it will be soon.'” (Al-Israa: 51), and we do not doubt for a moment the promise of our Lord: “Unquestionably, the help of Allah is near.” (Al-Baqarah: 214)
In critical moments, when falsehood prevails, and its banner is raised, the believer remains as steadfast as mountains, certain that Allah will fulfill His promise and help His servant, even if the whole world gathers to eradicate Islam. In contrast, the hypocrites hasten and quickly proclaim: “Allah and His Messenger did not promise us except delusion.” (Al-Ahzab: 12)
Dr. Yusuf al-Qaradawi, in his book “The Pope and Islam,” says: The doctrine of monotheism frees a person from fear, humiliation, despair, depression, and anxiety. It places the Muslim's hand in Allah's hand, providing extraordinary strength, knowing that Allah is with him, close to him, aware of his secrets and whispers, and that He is his protector and guardian. This brings a sense of security and tranquility that the disbelievers, doubters, and polytheists do not feel.
Allah is with the Believers
Allah’s companionship with His servant is of two types:
First: The general companionship with all creation:
This means that Allah is the one who manages the affairs of the entire universe. He is in control of everything, and He preserves the universe and everything within it. Allah says, “Allah – there is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of [all] existence. Neither drowsiness overtakes Him nor sleep. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth.” (Al-Baqarah: 255), and He says, “And He is with you wherever you are. And Allah, of what you do, is Seeing.” (Al-Hadid: 4)
Second: The special companionship:
This is Allah’s companionship for His Prophets, Messengers, those who strive in His cause, and the righteous among His servants with support, aid, assistance, guidance, and protection. Allah says, “They said, 'Our Lord, indeed we are afraid that he will hasten [punishment] against us or that he will transgress.' Allah said, 'Fear not. Indeed, I am with you both; I hear and I see.'” (Taha: 45-46), and He said, “And We inspired to Moses, 'Travel by night with My servants and strike for them a dry path through the sea. You will not fear being overtaken [by Pharaoh] nor will you be afraid [of drowning].'” (Taha: 77)
When Musa and those with him fled for their faith, fearing that Pharaoh would seduce them away from their religion, Pharaoh and his soldiers pursued them out of oppression and enmity. When the two groups saw each other, the hypocrites cried out: “Indeed, we are to be overtaken!” They said this mockingly to Musa and Harun, that Pharaoh and his soldiers had caught up with them, and that destruction was certain, with escape being nothing but a fantasy and mere delusion. The reason for all these calamities was Musa and Harun.
But Musa said to them with certainty: “No! Indeed, with me is my Lord; He will guide me.” (Ash-Shuara: 62); as a result, “Then We inspired to Moses, 'Strike with your staff the sea,' and it parted, and each portion was like a great towering mountain. And We advanced thereto the pursuers. And We saved Musa and those with him, all together. Then We drowned the others.” (Ash-Shuara: 63-66), and thus Musa and those with him were saved, and Pharaoh and his soldiers were drowned.
“So do not weaken and call for peace while you are superior; and Allah is with you and will never deprive you of [the reward of] your deeds.” (Muhammad: 35); this is Allah's way in the universe – destroying the oppressor at the peak of his power and granting victory to the oppressed at the height of their weakness. No one can achieve this but Allah, and this great victory and high status are granted only to those who have certainty in Allah's victory for the believers regardless of the circumstances. Allah says, “And We wanted to confer favor upon those who were oppressed in the land and make them leaders and make them inheritors. And establish them in the land and show Pharaoh, [his minister] Haman, and their soldiers through them that which they had feared.” (Al-Qasas: 5-6), and He says, “And We caused the people who had been oppressed to inherit the eastern regions of the land and the western ones, which We had blessed. And the good word of your Lord was fulfilled for the Children of Israel because of what they had patiently endured. And We destroyed [all] that Pharaoh and his people were producing and what they had been building.” (Al-A’raf: 137)
