Sheikh Ali Al-Qaradaghi: The New President of the International Union of Muslim Scholars Featured

Sheikh Ali Muhyiddin Al-Qaradaghi has been elected as the President of the International Union of Muslim Scholars. This happened during a meeting in Doha, the capital of Qatar.

The Election Process

After the General Assembly vote, it was announced that Sheikh Dr. Ali Mohieddin Al-Qaradaghi won the presidency with an overwhelming majority of 91.51% of the votes. The voting took place in a hotel in Doha and was attended by 651 scientists from different countries around the world.

Sheikh Al-Qaradaghi's Message

In a blog post on his official account, Sheikh Al-Qaradaghi expressed his gratitude for being elected. He promised to be loyal to his religion and work tirelessly to spread God's message with wisdom and fairness.

About Sheikh Qaradaghi

Sheikh Ali Muhyiddin Al-Qara Daghi was born in Qara Dagh district in the Sulaymaniyah Governorate in Iraq. He studied Islamic law in Baghdad and later earned a master's degree in comparative jurisprudence from Al-Azhar University. He also holds a doctorate in Sharia and law.

Since 2010, Sheikh Al-Qaradaghi has been serving as the Secretary-General of the Union. He is also the Chairman of the Supreme Advisory Council for Rapprochement of Sects of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. Additionally, he holds important positions in various Islamic institutions and universities.

About the International Union of Muslim Scholars

The International Union of Muslim Scholars is an Islamic institution that brings together scholars from different countries. It was founded in 2004 by Sheikh Yusuf al-Qaradawi. The Union aims to be a legal reference for the Muslim nation's civilizational project and promote peaceful coexistence with the rest of humanity.

The Union is independent of states and has its own legal personality and financial responsibility. Its headquarters were moved to Doha in 2011.
