Meet the five Al-Qassam leaders mourned by the group
The Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the
military wing of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), announced on December
29 the martyrdom of several of its senior commanders. These leaders inscribed
with their blood and struggle epics of heroism during the 'Al-Aqsa Flood'
battle and throughout their preceding jihadist milestones.
The following is the jihadist record
of the five martyred leaders:
1- Mohammed Sinwar (Abu Ibrahim):
Chief of Staff of the "Izz ad-Din al-Qassam
Brigades" and the successor to Commander Mohammed Deif.
He served as the Head of the Operations Division during the battle,
playing the most prominent role in planning and executing the October 7th
operation, as well as overseeing the defensive plan to repel the aggression.
He held several high-ranking leadership positions within the Military
Council and was previously the Commander of the Khan Yunis Brigade.
He personally supervised historic qualitative operations, most notably
the operations "Holy Revenge" (Al-Tha’er al-Muqaddas) and
"Dissipated Illusion" (Al-Wahm al-Mutabaddid).
Known for his brilliant military intellect, he was described as
"the best successor to the best predecessor" for his shrewd
leadership of the Brigades during its most challenging stages.
2.Mohammad
Shabana (Abu Anas):
Commander
of the Rafah Brigade in the "Al-Qassam Brigades." He rose as a martyr
alongside the Chief of Staff, Mohammed Sinwar.
He is
considered a long-time companion of the founding leaders, Raed al-Attar and
Mohammed Abu Shamala.
His
contributions spanned across the fields of media and military logistics
(supply); he supervised major qualitative operations, including
"Dissipated Illusion" (Al-Wahm al-Mutabaddid), "Warning of
Explosion" (Nadhir al-Infihaar), and the capture of the Israeli officer
Hadar Goldin.
He led
the heroic defense in Rafah during the "Al-Aqsa Flood"
battle.
3.Hakam al-Issa (Abu Omar):
Head of the Combat Weapons Division
nicknamed "The Mujahid Migrant" (Al-Muhajir al-Mujahid).
He underwent an extensive jihadist
career that spanned across Lebanon, Syria, and various other countries before
settling in Gaza, where he transferred qualitative military expertise to the
fighters (Mujahideen) in the Strip.
He rose through several sensitive
leadership positions, most notably: Head of the Training Division and the
Military Institutes and Colleges Authority.
4.Raed Saad (Abu Muath):
Head of the Military Production
Division, former Head of the Operations Division, and the first commander of
the Gaza Brigade.
He is credited with leading the
military production system that successfully achieved self-sufficiency for
"Al-Qassam," supervising the development of a comprehensive weapons
arsenal.
5.Huthayfa
Samir Abdallah al-Kahlout (Abu Ubaida)
Military Spokesperson for the
"Al-Qassam Brigades" and the Head of the Media Division.
Nicknamed "The Roaring Voice of
the Ummah" (Sawt al-Ummah al-Hadir), he was regarded as an icon of
psychological warfare.
He led the military media discourse
for more than two decades; his appearance in the red Keffiyeh became a symbol
for the free, a source of inspiration for nations, and a means of reassuring
the popular base.
"He skillfully managed the media
battle, conveying the image of victory and the heroics of the Mujahideen to the
entire world. His real name, Huthayfa al-Kahlout (Abu Ibrahim), was revealed
upon the announcement of his martyrdom, bringing to a close the journey of Abu Ubaida' as an immortal symbol in the nation’s
collective memory.
