Mighty Commander
Did you know that Muhammad Al-Deif is considered a symbol and a legend in the eyes of many? He is the commander-in-chief of the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, a Palestinian resistance movement. Israeli media has been discussing his role during the war in the Gaza Strip and the issue of Israeli prisoners held by the Palestinian resistance.
A Remarkable Leader
Elior Levy, head of the Palestinians department at Kan 11 TV, believes that Al-Deif's influence within Hamas is incredibly significant. He is involved in important decision-making, even down to the details of missile wings. Despite his physical disability, Al-Deif's mental capabilities are not impaired.
A Symbol and a Legend
Reserve General Tamir Hayman, a former director of the National Security Research Institute, recognizes Al-Deif as a symbol and a legend. He has survived multiple assassination attempts, which has made him an inspiration to Palestinian fighters. Just mentioning his name motivates them to keep fighting.
The Life of Al-Deif
Mohammed Al-Deif, also known as Abu Khaled, was born in Gaza in 1965. He is a Palestinian military commander and the commander-in-chief of the Martyr Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades. Israeli sources confirm that Al-Deif has been living in hiding for many years due to his involvement in the Hamas movement. He suffers from paralysis on the left side of his body and has limited vision in one eye as a result of an assassination attempt.
The Importance of Al-Deif
Although Al-Deif holds great importance within Hamas, he is just one piece of the puzzle. Even if he were to be eliminated, someone else would step up to take his place. Gonen Ben-Yitzhak, a former employee of the Israeli Internal Security Service, believes that targeting figures like Al-Deif is important for Israel on both a principled and strategic level.
The Controversy and Goals
Israeli media has also been discussing the controversy surrounding Israeli prisoners held by the Palestinian resistance. The military and political leadership of Israel have been unable to achieve their goals in the war on Gaza. Doron Matza, an expert in the Arab-Israeli conflict, warns that if Israel only focuses on returning detainees, they will lose the battle and face strategic consequences in the future.
A Father's Opposition
Avi Shimrez, the father of one of the prisoners killed by the Israeli army, opposes the use of force to secure the release of prisoners. His perspective adds to the ongoing debate surrounding this issue.
