The Israeli occupation army intensified its bombing on the neighborhoods of Gaza City this morning on Friday, August 2nd, leading to the martyrdom during the continuous genocide war on the 301st day.

The central area camps witnessed aerial and artillery bombardment since the early hours of dawn. The civil defense in Gaza announced the martyrdom of a child and the injury of four Palestinians due to the bombing of the Sawafiri family's house in the Zaytoun neighborhood in the south of Gaza City.

Medical sources reported that the injured were transferred to the Al-Muamaraniyah Hospital in the city. Additionally, rescue teams retrieved four martyrs and 12 injured individuals from a residential apartment hit by the occupation planes in the Abu Hashem building on Jalaa Street in Gaza City.

In the southern part of Gaza City, the occupation planes carried out intense airstrikes in the surroundings of Street 8 and the Sabra neighborhood in the south of Gaza City, resulting in a fire in agricultural land due to the bombing near the Abu Eida roundabout.

The civil defense in Gaza confirmed the presence of Israeli forces in the Tal al-Hawa area around the university and along Street 8, warning residents against approaching these areas to avoid endangering their lives.

In the central area camps, several Palestinians were injured due to Israeli shelling targeting a group of civilians east of the Maghazi Camp in central Gaza.

In the area of Arz al-Mufti north of the Nusairat Camp in the central sector, a house belonging to the Saad family was targeted, resulting in injuries. This was the second targeting of the house after the attack last night.

In the southern Gaza Strip, the civil defense teams in Gaza retrieved the bodies of four martyrs and several wounded individuals this morning due to a bombing that targeted the Barakeh family's house near the Abu Hameed roundabout in the central Khan Yunis area.

A Palestinian woman was martyred, and others were injured due to the bombing of the Aga family's house in the western part of Khan Yunis, and they were transported to the Nasser Medical Complex.

The occupation planes also targeted the house of the Abu Jazar family in the Ma'an area east of Khan Yunis, resulting in the injury of 7 Palestinians. Additionally, the occupation artillery targeted the western area of Rafah in the southern part of the Strip, east of Abasan al-Kabira east of Khan Yunis, the eastern areas north of Gaza, and the northern areas of the Nusairat Camp.

After midnight on Tuesday, three Palestinians were martyred, and others were injured in the occupation's targeting of a group of citizens at the Shujaiya junction east of Gaza City.

The Israeli occupation army continues its genocide war against the people of Gaza, which has entered its 300th consecutive day. Since the early hours of Thursday, August 1st, new massacres have been committed resulting in the deaths of several martyrs due to the attacks of the occupation. This comes after two massacres yesterday resulted in the deaths of 35 martyrs.

5 Martyrs

In the afternoon, 5 martyrs were killed after a house belonging to the Abu Nair family in the middle of Nuseirat refugee camp was targeted, with 3 of them being from the Abu Nair family. Additionally, at least one Palestinian was killed and others were injured in three Israeli airstrikes targeting a house in Nuseirat as well, causing a fire to break out.

Shelling Refugee Camps

Furthermore, Israeli vehicles fired on the eastern areas of the Maghazi and Al-Masdar refugee camps in the center of the Gaza Strip. In Gaza City, a Palestinian was martyred and several others were injured as a result of Israeli shelling near the Al Kuwait Roundabout in the south of the city. Apache aircraft belonging to the occupation also targeted several locations in Rafah in the south of Gaza.

On the other hand, the occupation released 15 detainees through the Kisiyofim military checkpoint, who were then transferred to the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir Al-Balah in the central Gaza Strip.

In the early hours of the morning, 8 Palestinians were martyred and others were injured after Israeli airstrikes targeted a civilian vehicle near the entrance of the Maghazi camp.

2 Massacres

The Ministry of Health in Gaza announced that the Israeli occupation committed two massacres resulting in the deaths of 35 martyrs and 55 injuries in the span of 24 hours, with the total number of victims of the genocide war since October 7, 2023, reaching 39,480 martyrs and 91,128 injured, mostly women and children.

Direct Losses of 33 Billion Dollars in 300 Days of War

The Gaza government media office announced on Thursday that the Israeli war led to direct losses of 33 billion dollars. This was stated in a statement by the media office marking the 300th day of the Israeli war on Gaza.

Catastrophic Humanitarian Situation

The statement explained that the humanitarian situation in Gaza is catastrophic, with losses from the genocide war exceeding 33 billion dollars in direct losses so far, in addition to tens of billions of dollars in indirect losses. It also mentioned that Israel's policies of closing crossings and preventing the entry of aid, medicine, goods, and products have worsened the food crisis and exacerbated hunger and malnutrition, especially among thousands of children.

2 Million Displaced

They pointed out that "there are around two million displaced people in Gaza living a very harsh and difficult life".

They also mentioned that "among the displaced people, there are dozens of different diseases, the most dangerous of which are polio and viral hepatitis".

Regarding the educational situation in Gaza during the war, the statement said that "more than 800,000 male and female students were deprived of education because Israel destroyed 117 schools and universities completely, and partially destroyed 332 schools and universities".

The statement added that "more than 39 students were deprived of taking the secondary exams".

 Housing Catastrophe

On the housing situation, the statement said that Israel "caused an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe in the world, by destroying 150,000 housing units completely, and rendering 80,000 housing units uninhabitable, in addition to damaging 200,000 housing units partially".

The statement also mentioned that Israel "destroyed more than 206 archaeological and heritage sites" in Gaza.

It deliberately destroyed 25,000 kilometers of electricity, water, sewage, roads, and streets networks "according to a planned destruction scheme".

It indicated that "the occupation intentionally destroyed 70 water wells and completely put them out of service, making access to water in Gaza a very difficult and challenging issue".

Additionally, the statement mentioned that Israel destroyed 610 mosques completely, and 211 mosques partially, as well as 3 churches".

  3457 Massacres

Regarding the victims of this war, the statement mentioned that Israel "committed 3,457 massacres resulting in 49,480 martyrs and missing persons, including about 10,000 missing persons under the rubble of destroyed buildings".

It added that among these, "39,480 martyrs arrived at hospitals, including 16,314 martyrs of children, and 10,980 female martyrs, with children and women making up 69 percent of the victims".

The statement pointed out that the Israeli army killed during the war 885 doctors and medical staff, 79 civil defense personnel, and 165 journalists and media personnel.

It added that the army "executed more than 100 scientists, university professors, and distinguished researchers in Gaza".

In its statement, the Israeli government's media office held Israel and the US administration "fully responsible for the deep humanitarian catastrophe that emerged in Gaza as a result of the genocide war".

The US administration was demanded to "stop supplying the occupation with missiles and bombs to kill civilians, children, and women in Gaza".

It also called on "the international community and all UN and international organizations to pressure the occupation to stop this brutal aggression and to halt the genocide crime currently being carried out by the Israeli occupation army for the three hundredth day in a row without cessation".

In defiance of the international community, Israel has continued its war with American support since October 7th, ignoring the UN Security Council's resolution to stop immediately, and the International Court of Justice's orders to take measures to prevent genocide and to improve the catastrophic humanitarian situation in Gaza.

Kuwait’s support for Palestinians unshakable

International community urged to shoulder its responsibility, end devastating war

Kuwait has been and continues to be a firm backer of the Palestinian people and their rights on the international stage, out of deep belief in the fairness of their cause and its importance for both the Arab and Muslim worlds. This Kuwaiti stance has been renewed by His Highness the Amir, the then Crown Prince Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, during his participation in the Cairo Peace Summit in October 2023. His Highness Sheikh Mishal stressed Kuwait’s unequivocal rejection of Zionist officials call for forcibly evicting Palestinians out of their lands.

He also urged the international community to shoulder its responsibility, provide protection for Palestinian civilians, and stop the occupation’s devastating war on the Gaza Strip. Kuwait also uses every regional and international platform to defend the Palestinian rights and call for ending the occupation and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the pre-June 5, 1967 borders with Jerusalem as its capital.

Situation in Middle East

Delivering Kuwait’s speech before a UN Security Council session on the situation in the Middle East on July 17, Kuwait’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdullah Al-Yahya renewed Kuwait’s firm solidarity with the brotherly Palestinian people and support for their legitimate rights, topped with establishing their independent state and achieving a comprehensive and fair peace. “This will lead to achieving security, stability, and development in the region,” Al-Yahya said.

Kuwait’s top diplomat also condemned the massacres against Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip. “Gaza has turned into a bleak landscape of destruction, with 40,000 deaths, mostly women and children. The total number of victims under the rubble is unknown,” he regretted. “Zionist entities have turned schools into battlefields and hospitals into landscapes of pain and powerlessness.” Despite the efforts to end these attacks, Zionists continue to cut lives short without any distinction, he noted.

He went on to say that the Zionist authorities are committing war crimes, crimes against humanity, and ethnic cleansing. Calling for unhindered delivery of humanitarian assistance across Gaza, Al-Yahya underlined the essential role of UNRWA in supporting the Palestinian people in their darkest hour. Al-Yahya further warned against double standards and expressed support for all initiatives to reach a just and lasting solution to the Palestinian question.

Criminal practices, violations

He highlighted Zionist continued criminal practices and violations of international law, referring to its unilateral decisions aiming to change the current legal and historic status of the occupied territories amid the failure of the UN Security Council to assume its responsibilities. On the sidelines of his participation in the Jordan-hosted international conference for the urgent humanitarian response for Gaza as a Representative of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdullah Al-Yahya affirmed that Kuwait will remain a strong supporter of the Palestinian people and ready to do all in power to end their suffering.

“Kuwait will not hesitate to extend a helping hand to the brotherly Palestinian people and will continue to support them as they face injustice and aggression,” Minister Al-Yahya said. Kuwait Amir’s Representative highlighted Kuwait’s governmental and popular campaigns to collect and provide aid to Palestinian people. He pointed out that Kuwait, since the start of the offensive on Gaza, has launched an airbridge through which 50 aircraft loaded with 1.3 million tons of humanitarian and relief aid were dispatched to the Gaza Strip.

Relief supplies

Moreover, Kuwait has also organized a 100-land and sea aid convoy loaded with relief supplies and shelter materials for Palestinian people during the same period, the minister said. He added that Kuwait has also sent medical teams to the Gaza Strip to help support the collapsing healthcare sector there. “Kuwait acts out of a principled and firm position supporting the Palestinian people and their legitimate rights,” the minister said.

He stated that Kuwait will always be among the main defenders of the Palestinian cause and the leading advocates for a just and comprehensive peace in accordance with the relevant UN resolutions to meet the legitimate aspirations of the Palestinian people, foremost of which is the establishment of their independent state on the borders of June 4, 1967. Minister Al-Yahya emphasized that the international community needs to realize that stability could not be reached in the Middle East region before a just, lasting, and final solution to the Palestinian cause.

He regretted that the people of Gaza have experienced unbearable suffering and reiterated Kuwait’s condemnation of the Zionist occupation’s insistence on obstructing the delivery of humanitarian aid and on imposing a blockade and arbitrary measures at Gaza border crossings, which prevented the flow of sufficient vital supplies to the needy residents of the Gaza Strip and exacerbated the humanitarian crisis there. He stressed the need for international efforts to formulate clear visions for ensuring unimpeded delivery of humanitarian aid in the Gaza Strip and to end the Zionist occupation’s blatant violations of international laws and guarantee the right of peoples to obtain humanitarian aid during conflicts.

On June 10, Kuwait’s permanent representative to the UN, Nasser Al-Hayen, affirmed that Kuwait will continue to ratchet up aid for the Palestinians, which includes an annual sum worth $500,000 it provides the International Labor Organization. As per the “instructions” of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Kuwait-based charities were quick to shore up urgent aid for the Palestinians, the diplomat said amid a gathering of international donors for the Palestinians, co-organized by Kuwait and Belgium.

Kuwait has already churned out some $112 million worth of urgent aid for the Palestinians since the war against the Gaza Strip began, he said, underscoring that such assistance will continue unimpeded given the scope of their misery. Speaking to the 112nd International Labor Organization’s (ILO) conference on June 6, Kuwait’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office and other International Organizations in Geneva Ambassador Nasser Al-Hayen told a special session on labor in occupied Arab lands that the current disastrous situation in the Gaza Strip should be addressed promptly to avoid further bloodshed.

Forced displacement

The forced displacement of millions of Palestinians is a heinous crime, which the Zionist occupation was solely responsible for, affirmed the Kuwaiti diplomat, who did not fail to mention the apocalyptic scenes of destroyed infrastructure throughout Gaza. The ILO’s impact of the war in Gaza on the labor market and livelihoods in the occupied Palestinian territory clearly showed the catastrophic humanitarian situation, which touched all Palestinians, specifically laborers there, he added. He revealed that the report suggested that over 200,000 Palestinians have lost their jobs, adding to the unending crimes committed by the Zionist occupiers.

Ambassador Al-Hayen insisted that the Zionist occupation had crossed all redlines and also violated all international laws and norms, including the ILO’s constitution. He pointed out that preventing laborers from across occupied territories to move freely and seek work was another criminal act carried out by the Zionist aggressors. While the world celebrated International Workers’ Day back on May 1, the occasion was marred by Zionist brutalization of Palestinian laborers, causing them to lose job security, stability, and peace, affirmed Ambassador Al-Hayen.

The Kuwaiti diplomat welcomed Article 177 of the ILO report that called for an immediate halt of the unjust war in the Gaza Strip and the end of occupation. On May 26, the State of Kuwait stressed its commitment to continue aid and humanitarian assistance to the people of Palestine and also praised UNRWA’s vital role to serve and help the Palestinians.

“I would like to take this opportunity to reaffirm Kuwait’s commitment to humanitarian and relief aid to the Palestinian people,” Kuwait’s Ambassador to Belgium and head of its missions to the European Union and NATO, Nawaf Al-Enezi, told an international meeting on Palestine in Brussels today. He stressed that “UNRWA represents the backbone of the humanitarian response to Gaza and plays a vital and indispensable role,” and noted that Kuwait recently made a voluntary contribution in the amount of $30 million to the UN agency for Palestinian refugees.

Al-Enezi welcomed the recent decision by Norway, Spain, and Ireland to recognize the State of Palestine and hoped that other countries will view similar decisions more favorably. He “strongly welcomed” the International Court of Justice’s latest decision ordering Zionists to immediately stop its military operation in Rafah. The Kuwaiti ambassador underlined the necessity to implement Security Council Resolution 2720 and allow the immediate delivery of humanitarian aid in a safe and unhindered manner and to create the necessary conditions for a ceasefire in Gaza.

‘Humanitarian catastrophe’

“And this happens against the verdict of the highest United Nations court—the International Court of Justice (ICJ)—that ordered Zionists to halt the military operation in Rafah and to open the border crossing for humanitarian aid,” said the EU foreign policy chief. He stressed that “we must do everything in our powers: to reach an immediate end of the hostilities; to achieve the immediate release of all hostages; and to alleviate the humanitarian catastrophe unfolding in Gaza.”

Referring to the West Bank, Borrell said, “There, we see an intensified spiral of violence and indiscriminate attacks by extremist settlers, who are more and more targeting humanitarian aid heading to Gaza.” Kuwait’s Ambassador Al-Enezi expressed his appreciation “for the detailed presentation made by the Prime Minister Mustafa of his government’s plans and substantial reform agenda in light of the economic, financial, and security challenges facing the new Palestinian government.”

Further, Norwegian foreign minister Espen Eide, in his remarks to the press, called for a ceasefire in Gaza and underlined that “there is no alternative in the long run to the two-state solution.” “We need to make sure that the Palestinian Authority will be able to survive and improve its service and plan for future return to Gaza,” he said. He called on the Zionist regime to transfer the Palestinian money that it collected on behalf of the PA and urged all donors to step up their financial support for Palestine.

At the China-Arab States Cooperation Forum in Beijing on May 30, Kuwait Ambassador to China Jassem Al-Najem said the forum adopted three documents after discussion, including “the Joint Statement on the Palestinian Issue.” Kuwait’s Permanent Representative at the Arab League Ambassador Talal Al-Mutairi said during his participation in the 96th session of the Liaison Officers of Arab Regional Offices on Boycott of (Zionist) Occupation Conference that Kuwait called for boycotting Zionist entities and hosted a conference on this issue in 1958. He added that Kuwait also opened an office for the Palestinian Liberation Organization on its land in 1964. — KUNA

Kuwait partakes in global efforts to preserve the environment

‘Sustainable living environment’ in New Kuwait vision

Environmental awakening can largely be dated back to the middle of the past century, when the Greek capital Athens hosted the fourth conference of the International Congress of Modern Architecture (CIAM), proclaiming the Athens Charter for cohabitation between cities and nature. The charter, published by the French architect Le Corbusier in the aftermath of the Industrial Revolution and the two great wars, set the fundamentals for harmony between basic human needs and urban planning - the latest of which is based on greenery.

Since then, there has been a chain of initiatives to cope with the unprecedented environmental challenges and salvage humanity from the impact of the deteriorating nature. States around the globe have been holding annual conferences since 1995 to draw up plans for saving the environment from deterioration, soaring heat and pollution. In this respect, Kuwait is among the top advocates of sustainable urban development friendly to the environment, expanding greenery, stemming desertification, and tapering off repercussions of climatic change resulting from the planet’s overheating.

Kuwait has repeatedly affirmed its unwavering commitment to international, regional, and Gulf resolutions and initiatives, cooperating with the United Nations and its agencies regarding diverse initiatives to protect the environment. The “sustainable living environment,” in New Kuwait vision 2035, is a priority to secure the sustainability of the Kuwaiti climate - through which it also seeks to honor its international obligations at this level. For sake of a sustainable “green future,” Kuwait has executed several projects and plans to beautify plots of land, boost planting, and set up natural reserves.

It believes “carbon neutrality,” to be attained during the middle of the current century, will be quite helpful in the efforts to preserve the environment and create opportunities to launch mega economic projects. Kuwait declared, during the second edition of the Green Middle East Initiative Summit, held in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, in November 2022, its full commitment to the initiative as a watershed for the region at the climatic level and a basis for regional cooperation in fighting the ramifications of the climate change.

Kuwaiti governments have put the environment among their priorities, seeking to limit pollution on the land, in the air, and at sea. The 2024-2025 annual development plan on rationalizing natural resources and setting up harmony between urban regions and nature aims at cutting contamination, improving citizens’ quality of life, and building green cities equipped with smart technology. The strategy’s fourth structural scheme (2040) also aims at constructing green buildings. Kuwait Council of Green Buildings, launched in 2009, seeks to secure a sustainable environment.

The Environment Public Authority (EPA) has embarked on various tasks in this regard, importing new beautifying plants and expanding the public green patches. Its plans also aim to stem sand movement and desertification and beautify the country with plants that can withstand severe weather conditions. Public parks are a major component of the greening tasks.

According to statistics declared by the EPA last year, the number of gardens reached 179 with a space of 2,695,993 square meters and 462,142 trees. EPA had planted 2,120,200 trees, and patches covered with flowers are estimated at 285,109 sq m. The number of planted palm trees amounted to 125,942. Moreover, it began in 2018 to plant mangroves that can absorb large amounts of carbon dioxide. Authorities have allotted huge budgets for beautifying the country, and private associations have been taking part in these efforts too. — KUNA

KISR obtains new patent in nanofluid technology

The Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research (KISR) obtained a new patent in the field of nanofluid technology on Monday from the US Patent and Trademark Office of the US Department of Commerce. The institute said in a press statement on Monday that this invention works on developing a system capable of producing hydrogen gas and nanofluids using effervescent tablets, funded by the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS). The project is titled “Dual Hydrogen and Suspension Production System Using Effervescent Tablets Containing Hydrogen Active Production Metallic Particles”.

The research was a joint achievement between Dr Nasser Al-Sayegh, a participating scientific researcher in the Nanotechnology and Advanced Materials Program at KISR, and Dr Husain Bahzad, professor of chemical engineering at the College of Technological Studies at the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training. Professor of mechanical engineering at the College of Engineering and Petroleum at Kuwait University Dr Nawaf Al-Juwayhel and a doctoral student on a scholarship from the General Secretariat of the Supreme Council for Planning Ali Al-Sayegh also participated in completing the project.

Dr Nasser Al-Sayegh pointed out the possibility of supplying vehicles with electricity through the hydrogen gas produced by the effervescent tablets, in addition to increasing the efficiency of cooling the internal combustion engine by the nanofluids resulting from the chemical reaction. He explained that this method of producing hydrogen is safer for hybrid vehicles than using hydrogen in its gaseous or liquid form in the event of traffic accidents, and it also requires much less storage space than that used to contain liquid or gaseous hydrogen. — KUNA

The anniversary of the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait on August 2, also called Martyrs Day, is one of the most important days in the memory of Kuwaiti society because of it embodies the patience, sacrifice and resistance of the Kuwaiti people, Kuwait Martyr’s Bureau said Saturday.

Director General Salah Al-Oufan said in a press statement on Saturday that the day stands as a reminder of the strength of the Kuwaiti people and embodies the greatest confirmation of the Kuwaiti people’s allegiance to their political leadership, Al-Sabah family, who have for decades led the country towards prosperity.

He said that the martyrs of the Kuwaiti resistance recorded honorable contributions in Kuwait’s march towards liberation. The martyrs, he said, represent the determination of the Kuwaiti people to preserve the security, independence and unity of their homeland at every stage of history and showed the world the extent of their adherence to the great values of martyrdom for the sake of Allah and the defense of land and honor.

Oufan added that people who read the books and documents written about this difficult period need decades to absorb the great sacrifices made during that stage in the history of the people of Kuwait, who always prove their ability to face challenges and achieve ambitions and aspirations.

He stated that the historical sacrifices made by the sons of Kuwait for the sake of the homeland are fuel for future generations and represent a continuous hope for a better future under the leadership of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and his faithful Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah.

Regarding the events that will be launched during the Martyrs Day, Oufan said that exhibitions will be organized in some malls such as the Avenues Mall, 360 Mall, Salhiya and Khairan under the slogan (Kuwait remains) with an innovative design which introduces new simulation technology via smart devices that enables visitors to learn about the stories of these heroes. — KUNA

A martyr and 4 others were injured in an Israeli airstrike on Al-Kabira in eastern Khan Younis.

The Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) announced this morning the assassination of its political bureau chief Ismail Haniyeh in the Iranian capital, Tehran.

Hamas stated in a statement that the head of Hamas "was martyred in a cowardly Zionist raid on his residence in Tehran."

In another statement, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard said, "We are investigating the dimensions of the incident of Haniyeh's martyrdom in Tehran" and will announce the results of the investigation later.

The Iranian news agency reported that Ismail Haniyeh and one of his personal guards were martyred after their residence in Tehran was targeted.

The Iranian Tasnim agency reported that the investigation into the assassination of the head of Hamas's political bureau is ongoing and the results will be announced soon.

Haniyeh was in Tehran for the inauguration ceremony of the Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi.

Shocked Reactions everywhere

Reactions poured in regarding the assassination of Hamas's political bureau chief Ismail Haniyeh today in the Iranian capital, with Hamas affirming that they are engaged in an open war and that the assassination of Haniyeh will not achieve its goals, while Israeli parties welcomed the operation.

Taher Nuno, Haniyeh's media advisor, stated that what happened was a "direct targeting and deliberate assassination," and mentioned in an interview with Al-Jazeera that the Iranian authorities will announce the details of the operation.

Dangerous Escalation

Hamas leader Sami Abu Zuhri confirmed that the movement is "engaged in an open war to liberate Jerusalem and ready to pay the price," and considered Haniyeh's assassination as a "dangerous escalation that will not achieve its goals."

Cowardly Act that Will not Go in Vain

On the other hand, Hamas Political Bureau member Musa Abu Marzouk described Haniyeh's assassination as a "cowardly act that will not go in vain."

The Islamic Jihad: Great National Leader

The Islamic Jihad Movement mourned the "great national leader" and affirmed that the assassination will not deter the Palestinian people from continuing the resistance.

General Strike in the West Bank

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas condemned the assassination of Haniyeh and considered it a "cowardly act and a dangerous development," while the Secretary-General of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization, Hussein Sheikh, described the assassination as a "cowardly act that calls for more steadfastness in the face of occupation."

On the other hand, the national and Islamic factions in Palestine called for a general strike and massive protests in condemnation of the assassination of the head of the political bureau of Hamas.

Tehran Response

In Tehran, the Supreme National Security Council met at the headquarters of the Supreme Leader in the presence of senior leaders of the Revolutionary Guards in the early hours of Wednesday morning to discuss the assassination of Haniyeh. Reuters reported that the highest security body in Iran will decide on Iran's strategy in responding to the operation.

The Iranian Tasnim news agency reported that the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee of the Parliament will hold a meeting regarding the assassination of Haniyeh.

The spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Nasser Kanaani, confirmed that the relevant authorities are still investigating the dimensions and details of Ismail Haniyeh's assassination, saying that "the blood of the jihadist fighter for liberation from the clutches of the Zionist occupiers will never be wasted," adding "Haniyeh's martyrdom in Tehran will strengthen and deepen the close relationship between Tehran and Palestine and the resistance."

Turkey condemns the Cowardly Assassination

In turn, the Turkish Foreign Ministry expressed its condemnation of Haniyeh's assassination and described what happened in Tehran as a "despicable assassination operation" aimed at "expanding the scope of the war from Gaza to the regional level," showing that "the Netanyahu government has no intention of achieving peace."

Russi: An Absolutely Unacceptable Political Crime

The Russian Foreign Ministry considered the assassination of the head of Hamas's political bureau "an absolutely unacceptable political crime," with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov stating, "This is an absolutely unacceptable political murder that will lead to further escalation in tensions."

A Heinous Terrorist Crime

On the other hand, the Houthi group said that the assassination of Haniyeh is "a heinous terrorist crime and a blatant violation of international law."

First Israeli statement

While the newspaper "Israel Today" reported that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office instructed ministers not to comment on the assassination of Haniyeh in Tehran, Minister of Heritage Ayelet Shaked made the first Israeli statement on the operation, stating that "Haniyeh's death makes the world a little better."

The genocidal war led by Israel on the besieged Gaza Strip entered its 298th day, with the Zionist occupation forces continuing to commit acts of genocide in Gaza through dozens of airstrikes, artillery shelling, and bloody massacres against civilians.

Shelling Khan Younis

A number of Palestinian civilians were martyred and others were injured in an occupation shelling that targeted the cities of Khan Younis and Gaza early Tuesday, according to Palestinian media reports. Many citizens were martyred in an Israeli shelling that targeted a house in the town of Abasan al-Jadeeda east of Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip.

Shelling Saint Porphyrius Church

Several citizens were injured in an Israeli shelling similar to the Saint Porphyrius Church, which houses displaced people in the vicinity of the Baptismal Hospital in the center of Gaza City. The occupation's artillery targeted the vicinity of the Return Schools, which house displaced people east of Khan Younis, while an Israeli airstrike targeted a house in "Jurat al-Lot" east of the city.

At the same time, Israeli occupation forces withdrew from the eastern areas of Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip. The Palestinian Red Crescent in Gaza said that the occupation army caused massive destruction in several neighborhoods in Khan Younis, and added that the Israeli army's shrinking of the areas it claims to be safe increases the suffering of the displaced people.

Martyr toll

The occupation continues its war on Gaza for the 298th consecutive day with absolute American support, where the brutal war on the sector has resulted in more than 130,000 martyrs and Palestinian wounded, most of them children and women, and over ten thousand missing, amidst massive destruction and famine.

The Ministry of Health stated that the occupation committed 3 massacres, resulting in 39 martyrs and 93 injured being taken to hospitals in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of martyrs to 39,363, in addition to 90,923 injured since October 7th last year.

Military police arrested 10 soldiers from the Sde Teman base for investigation into allegations of torturing prisoners from Gaza, while Israeli government and parliamentary figures expressed solidarity with the torture victims.

UNRWA schools shelled

Earlier this month, the Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees, Philippe Lazzarini, explained that the Israeli occupation army has shelled two-thirds of the agency's schools in Gaza since the beginning of the continuous aggression on Gaza on October 7th.

He noted that "schools have turned from safe places for education and hope for children into crowded shelters, often ending up as places of death and misery."

UNRWA warned earlier this month of a whole generation of children in Gaza losing their education due to the Israeli aggression.

Negotiations update

Regarding negotiations aimed at ending the war in Gaza and exchanging prisoners, Hamas stated in its first comment on the outcomes of the Rome meeting that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has once again returned to a strategy of stalling and evading reaching a deal in Gaza by imposing new conditions and demands.

Mediation parties met in the Italian capital yesterday, Monday, to discuss a ceasefire deal in Gaza, with the participation of the Israeli Mossad chief David Barnea, CIA Director William Burns, Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, and Egyptian intelligence chief Abbas Kamel.

Israel strikes Lebanon

Reuters reported Monday, July 29, 2024, that the United States is leading a diplomatic campaign to deter Israel from striking the Lebanese capital Beirut or its main civilian infrastructure after its threats to launch an attack following the incident in the town of Majdal Shams in the occupied Golan Heights.

Washington Trying to Avoid Full-scale War on Lebanon

According to the agency, Washington is racing against time to avoid a full-scale war between Israel and the Lebanese Hezbollah supported by Iran after the attack on the Golan Heights, which is occupied by Israel, resulting in the deaths of 12 children and teenagers on Saturday, July 27.

According to the five sources, including Lebanese and Iranian officials, as well as diplomats from the Middle East and Europe, shuttle diplomacy is focused on restraining Israel by urging it not to target the densely populated Beirut, the Hezbollah stronghold in the southern suburbs, or key infrastructure such as airports and bridges.

Meanwhile, deputy speaker of the Lebanese Parliament, Elias Bou Saab, told Reuters that Israel could avoid the risk of major escalation by avoiding the capital and its surroundings.

He added that he has been in contact with the American mediator Amos Hochstein since the Golan attack on Saturday, stating: "If they avoid civilians and Beirut and its suburbs, their attack will be well-calculated."

An Iranian official said that Washington has conveyed messages to Tehran three times since Saturday, warning that the escalation would be harmful to all parties.

Israeli officials said that Israel wants to harm Hezbollah but does not want to drag the region into a full-blown war. The diplomats stated that Israel has not committed to avoiding striking Beirut, its suburbs, or civilian infrastructure.

The U.S. State Department stated that it would not comment on the details of the diplomatic talks. A spokesperson for the department told Reuters, "Our support for Israel's security is strong and unwavering against all threats supported by Iran, including Hezbollah."

While the Israeli army accused Hezbollah of being behind the "Majdal Shams" incident and vowed to respond, the party categorically denied any responsibility for it.

Israel has occupied Lebanese territories in the south for decades, as well as the occupied Syrian Golan Heights, in addition to Palestinian territories.

On Sunday evening, the Israeli Cabinet for Political and Security Affairs authorized Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yaakov Galant to "make a decision on the type and timing of the response to Hezbollah."

According to Israeli military analysts, Tel Aviv wants to deliver a "strong blow" to the party in Lebanon, but without sliding into a "full-scale and regional war."

The genocidal war led by Israel on the besieged Gaza Strip entered its 297th day, with the Zionist occupation forces continuing to commit acts of genocide in Gaza through dozens of airstrikes, artillery shelling, and bloody massacres against civilians.

The following are the developments:

Thousands more Palestinians have fled a community in central Gaza in the face of new Israeli evacuation orders, worsening the humanitarian plight in an area already inundated with displaced people fleeing an assault in the south.

Israeli forces, which have now captured nearly the entire enclave in around 10 months of war, have spent the last several weeks launching major attacks on areas where they had previously claimed to have "uprooted Hamas fighters."

In its latest assault, Israel ordered residents on Sunday to flee Al-Bureij, just northeast of Deir.

"What is left? Deir? Deir is full of people. Everyone is in Deir. All of Gaza. Where should people go?" Aya Mansour told Reuters in Deir after fleeing from Bureij.

Gaza is ‘classic example of lost humanity,’ regrets Malaysian premier

The situation in Gaza is a “classic example” of “lost humanity,” Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has regretted.

Anwar called it an “unprincipled” attempt in the political, economic, and cultural spheres “where we have lost humanity.”

“(And) Gaza is classic example where in the name of democracy, you can allow and condone total chaos, oppression of the worst kind known to mankind in recent times,” the Malaysian prime minister told the 7th World Conference on Islamic Thought and Civilization in the northwestern Ipoh city.

Anwar said: “There is challenge, to offer a viable, meaningful, effective alternative and not to be in despair.”

Palestinian child dies of malnutrition amid Israeli siege on Gaza

A Palestinian child died of severe malnutrition caused by Israel’s crippling blockade on Gaza, according to a local medical source.

Ali Anas al-Tater, 6, breathed his last at the al-Ahli Baptist Hospital in Gaza City as a result of acute malnutrition exacerbated by the prolonged Israeli siege and the ensuing food crisis, the source told Anadolu.

Earlier this month, Hatem al-Hour, head of the neonatal department at Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Younis, warned that the number of Palestinians suffering from malnutrition was beyond the capacity of hospitals amid the ongoing Israeli war.

Palestinian death toll in Israel's war on Gaza climbs to 39,363

At least 39,363 people have been killed in almost 10 months of Israel's war on Gaza, the Palestinian Health Ministry in the besieged enclave said.

The toll includes 39 deaths in 24 hours, according to ministry figures, which also list 90,923 people as having been wounded in Gaza since the war began on October 7, 2023.

UK's Starmer urges Israel to take steps towards Gaza ceasefire

Flights at Beirut airport have been cancelled or delayed with Lebanon's Middle East Airlines (MEA) saying disruptions to its schedule were related to insurance risks, as tensions escalate between Israel and Hezbollah.

Lufthansa said it had suspended five routes to and from Beirut by the group's carriers Swiss International Air Lines, Eurowings and Lufthansa up to and including July 30 "in an abundance of caution".

Beirut airport's flight information board and flight tracking website Flightradar24 show Turkish Airlines also cancelled two flights overnight on Sunday.

Türkiye-based budget carrier SunExpress, Turkish Airlines subsidiary AJet, Greek carrier Aegean Airlines, Ethiopian Air and MEA have also cancelled flights scheduled to land in Beirut on Monday, Flightradar24 shows.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has told Israel's President Isaac Herzog there needed to be "immediate steps" towards a ceasefire in Israel's Gaza war.

"The Prime Minister said there must be immediate steps towards a ceasefire, so that hostages can be released and more humanitarian aid can get in for those in desperate need," Starmer's office said in a statement.

"The Prime Minister reiterated his ongoing support for Israel's right to self-defence in accordance with international law," the statement said.

Mossad chief returns to Israel following talks in Rome on ceasefire, hostage swap deal

The head of Israel's Mossad spy agency, David Barnea, returned to Tel Aviv after taking part in four-party talks in Rome in the latest push for a ceasefire in Gaza and prisoner swap deal with Hamas.

Israel is holding at least 9,500 Palestinians in its prisons and estimates that there are 115 Israeli hostages in Gaza. Hamas has announced that more than 70 prisoners were killed in Israeli air strikes on the enclave.

"At the (Rome) meeting, the sides discussed the document with the clarifications regarding the draft agreement conveyed from Israel," Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office said on X.

"The negotiations on the main issues will continue in the coming days," it added.

Israel's Netanyahu delays evacuation of 150 sick, wounded children from Gaza to UAE

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has delayed the evacuation of 150 sick and wounded Palestinian children from Gaza to the United Arab Emirates for treatment, an Israeli media outlet reported.

"A group of sick children from Gaza was supposed to leave for the UAE via Israel tomorrow (Monday), but after the Majdal Shams incident, Prime Minister Netanyahu ordered a delay in their departure," the state-run broadcasting authority said.

It said Netanyahu decided to postpone the children's departure via Israel's Ramon Airbase. The authority did provide a new departure date for the sick children. There has been no comment from the UAE on the matter.

Algerian judoka dropped from Olympics before facing Israeli, officially for missing weight

Messaoud Dris of Algeria was dropped from the Paris Olympics judo competition Sunday night, officially for missing weight on the day before he was scheduled to take on Tohar Butbul of Israel.

The International Judo Federation issued a brief statement declaring Butbul the winner by walkover.

The bout was scheduled to be the first in the men's 73-kilogramme division Monday, but given its political implications, many suspected it would not happen from the moment Dris and Butbul were matched in the random draw last week.

The genocidal war led by Israel on the besieged Gaza Strip entered its 296th day, with the Zionist occupation forces continuing to commit acts of genocide in Gaza through dozens of airstrikes, artillery shelling, and bloody massacres against civilians.

The following are the developments:

Zionist bombardment in southern Gaza

The occupation continues its aggression on the Gaza Strip, where Palestinian sources reported the martyrdom of 8 citizens in Khan Yunis city and its surroundings in southern Gaza since early Sunday, who were taken to Nasser Medical Hospital.

The Palestinian News Agency stated that the occupation artillery targeted the neighborhoods of Tel Al-Hawa, Al-Sabra, Al-Zaytoun, and Sheikh Ajleen in Gaza City, while warplanes simultaneously conducted two airstrikes on Tel Al-Hawa.

It added that the occupation warplanes targeted a building belonging to the Daghmash family on Morocco Street in Al-Sabra neighborhood in southern Gaza City, without causing any injuries.

Additionally, Zionist vehicles fired their machine guns while launching illumination bombs in the northwest of Al-Nuseirat refugee camp and north of Al-Bureij camp in central Gaza.

The agency also mentioned that the occupation army demolished residential buildings east of Khan Yunis city in southern Gaza, leading to smoke rising from the area, simultaneous with the occupation warplanes shelling the surroundings of the Qizan Al-Najjar area south of the city, and firing towards the homes and properties of citizens.

Thirteen citizens, including children and women, were martyred and dozens were injured in the occupation's bombardment of Khan Yunis city in southern Gaza on Sunday evening.

The Palestinian News Agency reported that the occupation warplanes targeted a house in Khan Yunis city, resulting in the martyrdom of 10 citizens and the injury of dozens who were transferred to Nasser Hospital.

It added that the occupation targeted a group of citizens in the railway area in Khan Yunis, leading to the martyrdom of 3 citizens who were transported to Nasser Hospital.

66 martyrs in one day

The Ministry of Health announced that the occupation committed 3 massacres against families in Gaza, leading to 66 martyrs and 241 injuries admitted to hospitals in the past 24 hours.

The ministry confirmed that the toll of the aggression has risen to 39,324 martyrs and 90,830 injuries since October 7 last year.

More than 16,000 martyrs in the first half of 2024

Among the martyrs were 6,725 children and 6,725 women, while around 10,000 victims remain under the rubble and in the streets where ambulance and civil defense crews cannot reach them.

The report also noted 38 deaths in the southern governorates due to the policy of starvation implemented by the occupation forces since October 7, 2023.

In the northern governorates, the Foundation for the Care of Martyrs and Wounded Families documented the martyrdom of 237 individuals and the injury of 890 others in the first half of the current year.

It mentioned that among the martyrs were 45 children, 4 women, and 6 martyrs due to settler attacks, as well as 27 students (21 from the school stage and 6 from university students).

Key resistance operations

The Palestinian resistance continues to confront the Zionist forces infiltrating multiple fronts in Gaza, as the Al-Qassam Brigades announced today, Sunday, targeting enemy command rooms in the "Netzarim" axis with short-range "Rajum" rockets of 114mm caliber.

Al-Qassam said they struck enemy forces infiltrating the area around the university campus south of Gaza City with heavy mortar shells.

They also announced that their fighters were able to target a Zionist foot patrol with an anti-personnel "Ra'diya" explosive device, resulting in one killed and one injured near the Al-Baraa bin Azib Mosque in the Tal Al-Hawa neighborhood south of Gaza City.

They further stated that they were able to target a Zionist force entrenched inside a building with an anti-personnel shell, resulting in casualties near the Al-Baraa bin Azib Mosque in the Tal Al-Hawa neighborhood.

They also reported targeting a Zionist "Namer" armored personnel carrier with a "Yassin 105" shell near the Al-Baraa bin Azib Mosque.

They continued to shell enemy soldiers and vehicles infiltrating the Bani Suheila cemetery east of Khan Yunis with regular mortar shells.

The Al-Quds Brigades also targeted a Zionist helicopter with gunfire from a machine gun while flying at low altitude in the Zana area in the eastern Khan Yunis advancement axis.

They also reported shelling enemy soldiers and vehicles infiltrating the perimeter of the "Reem" hall south of Deir al-Balah in the central Gaza Strip.

Israeli reports: "Difficult event" amid fierce clashes in Khan Yunis

Hebrew media reported a "difficult security event" on Sunday in Khan Yunis, where fierce clashes are taking place between the Palestinian resistance and the Israeli army, while shelling continues in several areas in the Gaza Strip, according to Al-Jazeera channel.

Al-Jazeera reported that an Israeli helicopter landed in the town of Bani Suheila east of Khan Yunis in the south of the Gaza Strip amid artillery shelling.
