Sumud Flotilla and Siege of Gaza: Meanings of Courage and Humanitarian Duties
For the past two years, a
long and shameful silence has prevailed in the Arab and Islamic worlds,
accompanied by the organized complicity of an international system built on
double standards. This has left the oppressed in Gaza to face hunger, thirst,
and slow death. Before the eyes of humanity and the conscience of the world,
these crimes are being committed, yet many states remain silent, and many
institutions shut their eyes and close their ears.
Amid this overwhelming
darkness, a gesture emerged that revived human dignity: the “Fleet of
Steadfastness.” It united dozens of relief ships and brought together hundreds
of consciences from all corners of the world into one convoy. It gave hope to
the people of Gaza, and what a profound hope it was for nations yearning for
mercy and justice.
This fleet was not merely a
food convoy; it was a cry against injustice, a beacon in the darkness of
betrayal, a torch in the night of defeat, an appeal before God Almighty, and a
cleansing of the shame that had befallen Arabs and Muslims as a result of two
years of total abandonment!
The Courage of Heroes: Those Who Risked Their Lives to Give Life
to Others
Those who boarded this fleet were not ordinary passengers;
they were heroes who carried on their shoulders the honor of humanity. They
overcame their fears, left behind their safety, and set out to support their
besieged brothers and sisters—fully aware that the journey might not bring them
back to their families and homelands. Their greatest concern was not their own
survival, but to keep the truth alive, to make the voices of the oppressed
heard, and to break the chains of hunger, cold, and injustice.
They carried no weapons; instead, they brought milk for
infants, medicine for the wounded, and blankets for those exposed to the cold.
They carried with them the voice of conscience—each one became a voice tearing
through the rustle of silence, a star shining in the night of despair. Their
courage was not limited to Gaza alone; it was a test for the conscience of all
humanity, declaring that martyrdom for the sake of God and the oppressed is
more honorable and noble than living in the satisfaction of the oppressor.
This journey was not an isolated chapter in the history of the
struggle between truth and falsehood; rather, it was a new chapter in a long
story, in which the heroes showed that wherever injustice arises, the compass
inevitably points toward suffering and the zeal to defend dignity.
The Tyranny of the Occupier and Its Dirty Hands Reaching Out to
the Heroes
The occupying state did not hesitate to reveal its ugly face
to the world. It deemed this humanitarian initiative a threat and unleashed its
violence on the high seas. It violated international law, attacked the ships,
arrested the volunteers, and confiscated the medicine, food, and blankets they
carried. In doing so, it set the worst examples of criminality and barbarism.
The cargo on these ships was neither weapons nor ammunition;
it was drops of mercy—to ease a starving soul, warm a child’s shivering body,
or heal a still-bleeding wound. Yet the occupation feared that food and
medicine, for when the truth is raised high, it shakes the empire of lies they
built through killing and displacement.
Today, with the number of martyrs, the wounded, and displaced
families reaching hundreds of thousands, and with infrastructure and hospitals
destroyed, the scene has become more than just a war—it is a deliberate attempt
to annihilate a people. The attack on the Fleet of Steadfastness is merely
another chapter in this criminal course, an attempt to silence the voice of
human solidarity.
The occupier hurled its harsh message to the world: whoever
helps the oppressed will be punished—let even the helper fear to give aid! Yet
none of this concealed one simple truth: injustice, no matter how imposing its
structure appears, is fractured within, and no occupation—no matter how long it
lasts—can prevent the eventual triumph of freedom and independence.
Our Duties Toward the Heroes: Silence Is Betrayal
This heroic action was not meant to remain merely a story; it
placed upon us lasting responsibilities and duties. When lives are risked to
save others, it becomes our obligation to restore these heroes’ dignity through
their prompt liberation. Diplomatic pressure, legal principles, and protective
measures must all be employed to secure their release, recover the confiscated
aid, and allow the mission to continue.
Moreover, this mission was not a fleeting stance, but a
movement of awareness that must continue. The participation of more than 500
volunteers from 20 countries, all driven by the desire to uphold the dignity of
the people of Gaza, sent a clear message to the world: “Gaza is not alone.” It
is our duty to amplify this message, to prepare new relief fleets, and to break
the siege by every legitimate means possible.
This duty does not rest solely on the shoulders of
governments; it is also borne by peoples, civil society, and every individual
with what they have to offer—a sincere prayer, a tear of compassion, a pen that
writes the truth, a body that takes to the streets, a post that reveals the
reality on social media. All of these are building blocks for shaping the
leadership of global conscience, for silence in the face of injustice only
feeds it, while the righteous voice alone can break the bonds of isolation.
Holding fast to the cause of these heroes is not a matter for
a passing day; it is a commitment to the future of our children. The survival
of Gaza, the freedom of Jerusalem, and the dignity of humanity depend on our
actions today and on our response to the calls of faith, conscience, and
humanity.
The Inevitable End of Tyranny: A Promise of Hope
The lessons of history have taught us that the kingdom of
injustice never endures: the Pharaohs drowned in their tyranny, Nimrod
perished, and the reigns of tyrants came to an end. A regime that measures its
power by rockets and tanks will not escape God’s decree and the divine laws
governing the universe and life. Injustice persists only to expose itself, and
falsehood cannot stand before the will of truth and the resistance of human
nature.
Their war machine may appear rigid and powerful, but inside it
is fractured by a moral defeat for which there is no cure. Their attempts to
block relief routes, imprison volunteers, and suppress voices of solidarity are
nothing but signs of panic and exhaustion. They know that severing humanity’s
lifeline will ultimately bring upon them an inescapable judgment from history.
Hope emerges in the darkest moments: the tears of Gaza’s
children, the prayers of Jerusalem’s people, and the echoes of “Allahu Akbar”
resounding beneath the domes of Al-Aqsa are all signs of a new dawn. The fleets
of steadfastness today may bear fruit tomorrow as fleets of liberation, and the
fortresses of occupation today will crumble in the morning of freedom.
Let us magnify hope instead of drowning in despair. Every word
we speak and every step we take hastens the approaching end. The resistance of
Gaza, the awakening of the Ummah, and the rise of humanity together shape the
face of the coming history—and that day is surely coming.
Palestine will be free again, Jerusalem will
regain its heartbeat, Al-Aqsa will be
freed from the shackles of occupation, and the prisoners will be released from
their chains. The names of those who risked their lives for this noble cause
will be inscribed in history with letters of light, and their courage will
serve as beacons guiding future generations. This truth is not merely a wish;
it is a divine promise and an inevitable historical outcome: injustice will not
last, justice will surely prevail, and freedom will rise with its new, near
dawn!
