Book review : “Facts and Constants in the Palestinian Cause: An Islamic Perspective”

Facts and Constants in the
Palestinian Cause: An Islamic Perspective (The Forty Facts on the Palestinian
Cause)" is one of the important
publications issued by Al-Zaytouna Centre for Studies and Consultations –
Beirut, Lebanon. It was prepared by the Palestinian researcher Prof. Dr. Mohsen
Muhammad Saleh, with the edition introduced by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Imara.
The book was published in an expanded
and revised edition in 2025. It comprises 58 pages of established facts and
information about the Palestinian cause from a comprehensive Islamic
perspective.
An Epistemological Introduction to the
Palestinian Cause
This book provides a focused
epistemological introduction to understanding the Palestinian cause, combining clarity of
presentation with the depth of the Islamic perspective. Its author, Dr. Mohsen
Muhammad Saleh, has successfully articulated 40 fundamental facts that form an
intellectual, political, and civilizational framework indispensable for anyone
engaging with this central cause.
Since its first release, the book has
been highly regarded by intellectuals. The late Dr. Muhammad Imara described it in the preface to the first edition as “a
text that should be committed to memory by every Arab and Muslim, indeed by
every honorable human being who seeks truth, justice, and fairness.” He
affirmed that it succeeded in distilling the essence of the cause into a
coherent political and intellectual consciousness.
Key Milestones of the Palestinian Cause
The book relies on well-documented
scholarly sources, presenting a comprehensive overview of the land of Palestine
and its people. It unpacks the pivotal stages of its history: from the Ottoman
era to the British Mandate, through the rise of the Zionist movement, and culminating in the establishment of the
“Israeli” entity, followed by displacement, ethnic cleansing, and systematic
attempts to Judaize the land, the people, and the holy sites. The book also
examines the balance of power and weakness within the Zionist project.
The author highlights the stages of Palestinian resistance, from the early uprisings to the two Intifadas and
contemporary movements. He also addresses the role of the Palestine Liberation
Organization and other Palestinian factions, as well as the Arab and international
involvement in the course of the conflict, and the transformations and
repercussions brought about by the Oslo Accord.
The book does not overlook the human
dimension of the Palestinian cause, as it highlights the suffering of the
people under occupation. It also explores Palestine’s place in Islamic
consciousness, Islam’s perspective on the concepts of liberation and peace, and
its stance toward the Jews. In conclusion, the author presents a comprehensive
vision for liberation, rooted in Islamic constants, and grounded in the
realities on the ground.
It is a small book in size but vast in
substance, serving as a foundational reference for any reader who wishes to
understand the essential truths of the Palestinian cause, away from media
distortion and historical falsification.
