Under the Slogan "Your Blood Donation... A National Duty"
Social Reform Society (Islah) Organizes Blood Donation Event
As part of its social and humanitarian role, and out of its keenness to promote a culture of giving and solidarity among community members, the Social Reform Society organized a blood donation event on October 23, 2026, under the slogan "Your Blood Donation... A National Duty." The event was held under the patronage of the Chairman of the Society's Board of Directors, Dr. Khalid Madhkour Al-Madhkour, and in cooperation with the Central Blood Bank, in a step exemplifying the importance of community partnership in supporting the health system, providing for patients' needs of blood units, and reinforcing the concept of national and humanitarian responsibility.
Promoting a Culture of Blood Donation and Voluntary Work
Abdulrahman Al-Shatti, Director of Public Relations and Media
at the Social Reform Society, stated that organizing this event stems from the
Society's belief that community work is not limited to providing humanitarian
and relief assistance. Rather, it extends to include health and awareness
initiatives that contribute to protecting individuals and enhancing their
quality of life. He emphasized that donating blood is one of the highest forms
of giving due to the noble humanitarian meanings it carries and the real
opportunity it offers to save the lives of patients and the injured.
He added that the event's slogan, "Your Blood Donation...
A National Duty," reflects the importance of sensing individual
responsibility toward society. Every donor contributes to supporting the
strategic blood reserve and assists in fulfilling hospital needs for surgeries,
emergency cases, and patients whose lives depend on the availability of
suitable blood units. He noted that a single drop of blood may be a cause,
Allah willing, for granting a human being a new chance at life.
Al-Shatti explained that through such initiatives, the Society
is keen to promote a culture of voluntary work and translate the values of
solidarity and compassion into practical applications. He pointed out that
blood donation represents a clear model of giving that is not bound by social
status or financial capabilities, but rather rests on empathy for others and a
sincere desire to assist them, which reflects the authenticity of Kuwaiti
society and the eagerness of its people to give and bestow.
He affirmed that the social responsibility of civil society
organizations requires actively responding to the community's evolving needs,
contributing to spreading awareness about health and humanitarian issues, and
supporting initiatives that promote prevention and public health. He noted that
the Social Reform Society strives to be an active partner in national
initiatives that achieve a tangible impact on people's lives and support the
efforts of relevant authorities in serving society.
Blood Donation: A Community Partnership to Save Lives and Support Public Health
Al-Shatti indicated that the success of such events relies on
the integration of roles among civil society institutions, health authorities,
volunteers, and community members. He explained that cooperation among these
parties helps reach broader segments and encourages more citizens and residents
to participate in blood donation campaigns in accordance with approved medical
requirements and guidelines, thereby ensuring the safety of donors and
beneficiaries alike.
He pointed out that the awareness aspect represents a
fundamental pillar of the event, as field initiatives contribute to correcting
misconceptions surrounding blood donation, highlighting its importance and role
in saving lives, and encouraging medically eligible individuals to donate a regular voluntary behavior rather than restricting it to times of
crises and emergency needs. He stressed that spreading health awareness is a
shared responsibility that requires the combined efforts of media and community
entities.
Al-Shatti noted that the Social Reform Society views this
event as part of its comprehensive mission to serve humanity and promote
positive values of citizenship. Health initiatives integrate with the social,
humanitarian, and relief programs implemented by the Society, based on the
principle that building a cohesive society begins with taking care of
individuals, their health, and their dignity, as well as embedding a culture of
initiative, cooperation, and volunteerism among its members.
Al-Shatti concluded his statement by reassuring that the Social Reform Society will continue to support community initiatives that foster a spirit of national responsibility and achieve public benefit. He called upon members of the community to interact positively with blood donation campaigns and participate in them whenever they meet the necessary health conditions, emphasizing that true giving is not measured by its size, but by its impact on the lives of others, and that donating blood is a noble humanitarian message summarizing the values of mercy, solidarity, and national belonging.
