Imran Khan who used to be the Prime Minister of Pakistan now, is in some more serious trouble. He and another important leader from his party, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, have been sentenced to 10 years in prison by a special court.

The Verdict

A special court in Pakistan made this decision during a quick hearing at Adyala Prison in Rawalpindi. It's right next to the capital city, Islamabad. The court said that Khan and Qureshi leaked secret documents, which is a big no-no.

The Tehreek-e-Insaf party, which Khan started, confirmed the news. They said, "Yep, our former Prime Minister Imran Khan and our vice president Qureshi are both going to prison for 10 years because of the leak case."

It is worth mentioning that in October of last year, the Pakistani authorities accused Khan of leaking secret documents. He got in trouble for that and was sent to prison in August 2023. But then, another court said, "Nah, he's innocent," and overturned the ruling. However, he couldn't leave prison because there was another case against him. This time, it was about publishing official documents without permission.

The Telegram Incident

Khan claimed that the United States and his opponents were plotting against him. He said they wanted to kick him out of office because he was getting friendly with Russian President Vladimir Putin. To prove his point, he showed a piece of paper at a public gathering in Islamabad. He said it was a telegram from the Pakistani ambassador to the United States, and it was evidence of the conspiracy.

Imran Khan's Side

Khan is a very popular politician in Pakistan. He believes that the military in his country is behind all these legal troubles. He thinks they want to stop him from running for a second term as Prime Minister. He's not happy about it, that's for sure!

So, Imran Khan, the former Prime Minister of Pakistan, has been sentenced to 10 years in prison. This is just a part of the conspiracy against Pakistan
