To shine in the world of training, you must possess a commanding presence, an appealing personality, and a strong confidence in Allah, which leads to confidence in yourself and in others.
To illustrate this, here’s a short story about a woman who approached a human investment company, aspiring to become a trainer. The conversation unfolded as follows:
Woman: Do you have a trainer position available at your company?
We replied: Yes.
Woman: I want to be a trainer in your company.
We replied: Do you have prior training experience?
Woman: No.
We replied: Why do you want to become a trainer?
Woman: This job pays well and involves minimal risk!
We replied: Do you possess the qualities of a trainer?
Woman: I came here because I’m convinced I have the qualities of a trainer.
We replied: Our company has a test that identifies the traits of an outstanding trainer. It’s called the "Personality Trait Analysis Test." It consists of 24 questions and takes about 10 minutes to complete.
Then we said: We’d like to test you. Are you ready?
Woman: Yes, I’m ready, and with pleasure.
When the woman finished the test, the results revealed a personality entirely unsuited for training!
We replied: Your personality is diplomatic, fitting for work in embassies, but not suitable for working with us. Take these results and pursue a job that aligns better with your profile.
So, what are the qualities of an outstanding trainer? That will be the focus of these articles, Allah willing.
Training: Your Path to Overcoming Weaknesses, Adjusting Your Course, and Developing Yourself and Your Leadership Skills
With conviction, knowledge, practice, and time, a trainer begins to feel the effects of change—on average—within 21 days. This process essentially rewires the brain to excel in the field of training.
Level of Excellence
Failing to practice training daily is sufficient to diminish a trainer’s excellence in the field. Conversely, the level of excellence increases over time, with a slight improvement during the first six months of intensive application of change mechanisms. This is supported by findings from a group of psychologists at the British Psychological Society.
The rate of excellence then begins to accelerate! There is no ceiling to this excellence, as for every outstanding trainer, there exists another who is even more exceptional. An accomplished trainer continues to grow over time and must keep up with innovations in training, practice them, and refine their approach by at least 10% in every new training session.
Refining the training approach involves introducing a single new training technique from a range of methods in every new session. Around 80% of a trainer’s effort is focused on reaching the pinnacle of training, while the remaining 20% is dedicated to maintaining that peak by continuously developing effective training strategies until the end of their career.
Effective training is characterized by leaving a lasting impact on the trainee. This includes the immediate admiration of the trainer’s performance after the session, an increase in the trainee’s knowledge of the content, and permanent behavioral changes that enhance their abilities and skills over an average period of six months.
Effective training is estimated to bring about a 23% improvement in a trainee’s personality if conducted in a retreat, farm, or private oasis over an average duration of three full weeks. During this time, the trainer lives with the trainees, prays with them, eats with them, and shares knowledge through diverse training tools.

In contrast, discussion-based training courses held in conference rooms are effective if they bring about a 4% change in the trainee’s personality over six months. The effectiveness drops to an average of 1% for remote courses conducted via computers, electronic communication tools, or social media platforms.
To address this, global training companies, such as Crestcom in the United States, have combined these methods and adopted their best features. They space out training days by a month, allowing trainees to practice one or more principles learned from each session. In the following month, they discuss challenges faced and ways to overcome them with peers.
A part of this training includes an electronic presentation by a renowned trainer sharing practical experiences over 20–30 minutes. This approach suits managers and leaders in various sectors who lack the time for consecutive days of training. It has proven to be particularly effective in the oil, banking, and private sectors.
In the next article, Allah willing, we will explore the characteristics of an outstanding trainer and methods for attracting trainees.
