The blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque is currently going through its annual appointment with one of the most intense seasons of incursions carried out by individuals from extremist Temple groups and the religious Zionism movement in the occupying state, which is the season marking the beginning of the Hebrew year.
These groups consider, from a religious perspective, that the beginning of the Hebrew year should mark the start of a new phase that differs from the previous one. Therefore, they attempted to carry out significant incursions into the "Al-Aqsa" during this period. The emphasis does not rely on the number of incursions as much as it depends on the type, manner, and method of these incursions, as well as the qualitative achievements that these groups seek to obtain in the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque.
What distinguishes this season from other seasons of incursions throughout the year – and each of these seasons has its own characteristics for extremist groups – is the long duration of the incursions due to the relatively lengthy season, lasting for 22 days. This is similar to Muslims' month of Ramadan, which spans approximately 30 days. The extremist temple groups exploit this long period to catch their breath and attempt to make specific changes at the Al-Aqsa Mosque each year.
The danger of "blowing the horn"
One of the most prominent operations that these groups sought to carry out during this period inside Al-Aqsa Mosque was always the blowing of the shofar inside the mosque on the Jewish New Year. Blowing the shofar is an important religious ritual for them because it resembles the idea of the Day of Judgment in terms of being a dividing line between two times, just as the beginning of the year serves as a dividing line for humanity. Therefore, the extremist temple groups always aimed to attempt to blow the shofar inside "Al-Aqsa" on this day, drawing a parallel with the ritual that was carried out in the temple according to their religious beliefs.
These groups failed every year to perform this ritual due to the security concerns of the occupation regarding the repercussions of this process. However, they managed to carry it out completely in secret and with great discretion, without any media coverage, under pressure from the occupation police over the past two years. This year, however, they succeeded in translating their desire into action on the ground, as the horn was sounded publicly at Al-Aqsa Mosque. The occupation police waited for 15 seconds before acting in a ridiculous and grotesque imitation to stop the extremist who carried out this act and remove him from the mosque, in order to relieve themselves of embarrassment!
What happened was extremely dangerous; it was covered and celebrated by these groups. These groups have colluded with the occupation police, managed by the extremist shaman " Itamar Ben-Gvir," on this scenario with the aim of familiarizing Muslims with this scene. If the situation continues as it is, we will see the same event repeated next year and the year after without removing the settlers from "Al-Aqsa," as this is the method always employed by the occupation police.
At the same time, this period begins what is known as the "Days of Repentance" leading up to the most important days of the Hebrew year, which is "Yom Kippur" (September 25). On the day following Yom Kippur, these groups perform specific religious rituals dressed in white clothing inside Al-Aqsa Mosque, followed by the most significant day of incursions in this season, which is the "Feast of Tabernacles" (Sukkot), characterized for these groups by a large gathering of intruders in Al-Aqsa Mosque. The extremist group "Beitenu" has already declared that it wants this season to break the record for the number of intruders in Al-Aqsa.
What "Al-Aqsa" is going through these days should not be an occasion for lamentations and pouring out sorrows at its thresholds, but rather it should be a season for standing firm against the occupation and preventing these groups from carrying out what they want in Al-Aqsa Mosque. The Palestinian people have previously thwarted the plans of the occupation and its extremist groups three times in the past ten years, and they can do so again, but only if they receive the moral support they need from the Islamic world, from one ocean to another, and are not left alone in this battle.
