A news report from Israeli Army Radio said that the Israeli forces are still a long way from getting rid of the missiles that Hamas has. It might take them one to two years to achieve this goal.
The Challenge
The radio report mentioned that many of the rocket launching pads in the Gaza Strip are hidden underground. This makes it really hard for the Israeli forces to find them. Imagine trying to find something buried deep in the ground - it's like searching for a needle in a haystack!
Hamas' Rockets
According to estimates, Hamas still has around 1,000 rockets. Most of these rockets are hidden in underground platforms.
Close to Home
Army Radio also mentioned that the rockets that were launched towards the city of Tel Aviv last week came from platforms in Khan Yunis. These platforms were only 20-30 meters away from the Israeli army forces.
Islamic Jihad Movement
The radio report also talked about a group called the Islamic Jihad movement. They are still active in the Zaytoun neighborhood in Gaza City. This group has a stockpile of rockets and has been responsible for many shooting operations in the area recently.
Renewed Fighting
Recently, there have been reports about fighting starting again in Gaza City and the northern areas of the Strip. This is worrying because it means that Hamas and other Palestinian groups are able to move around in those areas. This shows that they are still strong and can fight back against Israel.
Hamas' Strategy
Hamas is trying to make the fighting worse in these areas that Israel claims to control. They are organized and can still fight, nevertheless also reducing the pressure from the Israeli military in the southern part of Gaza. It's like a game of chess, with each side trying to outsmart the other.
The Ongoing Conflict
The Israeli forces have been fighting in Gaza for 122 days now. They are facing strong resistance from Palestinian groups in different parts of the Strip. It's a tough situation for everyone involved.
