I will not discuss the permissibility of celebrating the anniversary of Al-Isra and Al-Miraj, as it has been exhaustively debated to the extent of delving into matters far removed from our current reality and the ongoing struggles of Al-Aqsa Mosque, occupied by a group of the most despicable people.
The journey of Al-Isra and Al-Miraj is a fragrant memory that takes us back to the early days of Islam, demonstrating that Allah Almighty is capable of all things. Allah does not need to prove this, but He willed to demonstrate to humanity the great status of His chosen Prophet, our beloved Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), the dearest of all creation to Allah. It was also a test to purify the hearts of people. When the disbelievers told Abu Bakr As-Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) about the Prophet’s (peace and blessings be upon him) narration of the Night Journey to Al-Aqsa and the Ascension to the heavens, believing it would deter him from his faith and certainty in the Prophet and Islam, his response shocked them. He asked, "Did he say that?" They replied, "Yes." He said, "Then he has spoken the truth."
He believed the Prophet without hesitation or needing to verify the matter with him. He simply declared, "I believe him in matters far greater than that—in his reports of revelation from the heavens day and night." Hence, he was honored with the title "As-Siddiq" (The Truthful).
How remarkable you are, Abu Bakr, the closest companion to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! In times of hardship, people only look to extraordinary individuals who believe in the cause and are undeterred by those who abandon them.
The memory of Al-Isra and Al-Miraj connects every Muslim to their beliefs and emphasizes the greatness of Allah Almighty. It also binds Muslims to the Sacred House of Allah, the Kaaba, and reminds us to express gratitude to Allah for the care and attention the Saudi state and its leaders extend to the Two Holy Mosques.
On the other hand, there remains a deep sorrow in our hearts for the Prophet Muhammad's place of ascension in occupied Palestine, witnessing how the Zionists desecrate Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Dome of the Rock, violating the sanctity of the site.
All Muslims are obligated to protect Al-Aqsa Mosque from the transgressions of the Zionists. We need the unity of the Ummah to expel the usurping Jews and liberate the sacred places.
The current state of Al-Aqsa Mosque reflects the lines of this poem:
O king who lowered the crosses' banners,
A grievance comes to you from the Sacred House.
All mosques have been purified,
Yet I remain defiled upon my honor.
These verses inspired the Muslim leader Salahuddin Al-Ayyubi to rise and lead an army to liberate the Holy Land from the Crusaders.
We will not truly rejoice in celebrating Al-Isra and Al-Miraj until Al-Aqsa and Jerusalem are once again embraced by the Ummah. So, O Allah, hasten the liberation of our sacred sites and our lands.
