Lessons From Kuwait
How Good Deeds Protect Nations
The State
of Kuwait has long been known for the values of honesty, trustworthiness,
generosity, giving, courage, and bravery across all segments of Kuwaiti
society. (At-Tajir Al-Uswah (The Exemplary Merchant): Abdulmohsen Al-Kharafi—in which
the author highlighted, across three volumes, the values of Kuwaiti merchants).
You find
strong connection between ruler and people, compassion between rich and poor,
and harmony, brotherhood, love, and cooperation among neighbors of all
backgrounds.
Thus, the
Kuwaiti people became strong through this cooperation, harmony, and connection.
Kuwait’s Unity and Goodness During the
Iraqi Invasion
When the
brutal Iraqi invasion struck
Kuwait, the Kuwaiti people stood as a solid wall, an impenetrable barrier, a
strong fortress, and a fierce resistance, standing firm alongside their
leadership. This unity caused the aggression to weaken, retreat, and eventually
disappear—leading to victory and liberation.
The
Kuwaiti people have always been devoted—since early times—to acts of goodness,
both within their country and across the Arab and Muslim world. They support the Palestinian cause and Al-Aqsa Mosque with their wealth, reject
normalization with the occupying Zionists, and believe in the necessity of
ending the occupation—having themselves experienced the oppression of
occupation and the bitterness of a stolen homeland.
Global Humanitarian Efforts and Charity
Work
Kuwaitis
actively build mosques, schools, hospitals, and health centers around the
world. They sponsor and care for orphans, widows, needy families, and the
families of martyrs. They feed the poor, the needy, and the destitute, and
deliver zakat and charitable donations through the most organized and effective
means, under governmental supervision.
During
these blessed days, the Kuwaiti people launch donation campaigns for debtors,
helping them repay burdensome debts. People contribute generously and
enthusiastically for the sake of Allah, strengthening national unity and deepening human and brotherly bonds.
The
Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Acts
of kindness protect against bad fates, calamities, and destruction. The people
of correctness in this world are the people of correctness in the Next World.” (Narrated by Al-Bukhari and Muslim)
How Good Deeds Protect Nations and
Defeat Evil
The
values of unity and compassion within a society protect it from the plots of
enemies, disasters, and the schemes of the wicked. Acts of goodness shield the nation from criminals and conspirators,
and even turn the enemy’s plotting back upon themselves.
Allah the
Almighty says, {But evil plotting only backfires on
those who plot.} [Fatir 35:43]
Acts of
kindness, by the grace of Allah, bring protection and security. The Prophet
(peace be upon him) said to Ibn `Abbas: “O boy!
I will teach you a statement: Be mindful of Allah and He will protect you. Be
mindful of Allah and you will find Him before you. When you ask, ask Allah, and
when you seek aid, seek Allah's aid. Know that if the entire creation were to
gather together to do something to benefit you- you would never get any benefit
except that Allah had written for you. And if they were to gather to do
something to harm you- you would never be harmed except that Allah had written
for you. The pens are lifted and the pages are dried.” (Narrated by At-Tirmdhi)
And all
praise is due to Allah, Lord of the worlds.
