South Africa Accuses Israel of Genocide Crimes

A member of the South African advisory group recently spoke before the International Court of Justice, stating that he expects a ruling to be issued within a week on the lawsuit filed by South Africa. The lawsuit accuses Israel of committing genocide crimes against the residents of the Gaza Strip.

Israel's Crimes Against Palestinians

The South African legal team argued during the plea that Israel has been intensifying its crimes against the Palestinians since 1948. They claimed that Israel is subjecting the Palestinians to an apartheid regime and that the international community has failed to prevent genocide in Gaza.

Intentions of Genocide

During the pleading on December 29, the legal team pointed out that Israel's actions in the Gaza war indicate an intention to commit genocide. They highlighted that hundreds of families in Gaza were completely killed, leaving no survivors.

Belgium's Support for South Africa's Case

Minister of Development Cooperation Caroline Jenes expressed Belgium's full support for South Africa's case on her social media account. She stated that if the court asks Israel to stop its military operation against Gaza, Belgium will fully support it.

Commitment to Humanitarian Aid

Minister Jenes emphasized that Belgium takes its responsibility towards human rights and humanitarian law seriously. She pledged to work towards ensuring the full delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza as soon as possible.

Striving for Peace

Belgium will continue to strive for a permanent ceasefire, full access to humanitarian aid, the release of prisoners, compliance with international law, and the two-state solution. They will work within the European Union and at the international level to achieve these goals.
