Increasing Aid for Palestinians in Gaza

The World Food Program is calling for a significant increase in the number of aid trucks entering the Gaza Strip. Currently, only 4 trucks per day are reaching the area, but the program believes that 40 trucks per day are needed to meet the food needs of the 2.2 million Palestinians living in the Strip over the next two months.

Aid Trucks and Fuel Shortage

Since the beginning of the Israeli war on Gaza, a total of 84 aid trucks have entered the Strip from Egypt through the Rafah land crossing. This means that, on average, only 4 trucks have been able to deliver aid each day. Additionally, fuel has not been allowed to enter the area.

Worsening Conditions and Fuel Shortage

The World Food Program has warned that the already catastrophic conditions in Gaza may worsen due to the severe fuel shortage. This shortage threatens to halt food aid and other relief operations within the Strip.

Impact on Bakeries and Families

Without additional fuel supplies, bakeries that work with the World Food Program will not be able to produce bread. This would be a painful blow to thousands of families who rely on this essential food item. Displaced Palestinians in UNRWA schools in Gaza have reported receiving only one loaf of bread per person each day. The decline in production from the few remaining bakeries, combined with the large number of displaced people, has led to long queues and often a lack of bread for many families.
